Great Family Film!
Hiccup is the village outcast. But in his eyes, he won't be for long. Hiccup has a plan. All he has to do is use one of the creative contraptions he invents to slay one of the dragons who constantly terrorize his village. But Hiccup's aiming big. He's going after the Nightfury--the most dangerous of all dragons. With dreams of rising far above his village loser status, he manages to wound one--only to slowly discover that dragons aren't what the village has been taught they were. Now it's up to Hiccup and his new found friend to save the village from something far worse than a dragon attack, but rather from self-destruction as a result of their own ignorance. How To Train You Dragon is a wonderful, humorous story of tolerance and bravery and from the opening line to the clever, ... Hiccup is the village outcast. But in his eyes, he won't be for long. Hiccup has a plan. All he has to do is use one of the creative contraptions he invents to slay one of the dragons who constantly terrorize his village. But Hiccup's aiming big. A Heart warming movie
Watch a heart warming story of a Viking boy. Who changes the whole attitude of a Viking village. Where they kill dragons out of sure hatred towards the magnificent beasts. He shows everyone that they are not all monsters. But they are just misunderstood, just like him. This movie shows kids, that conformity is not all that good. At least always. That being different can have it's advantage. GET IT, LET YOUR CHILDREN SEE IT. AND MOST OF ALL LEARN!!!!!Watch a heart warming story of a Viking boy. Easy to fall head-over-heels in love with
Definitely a favorite movie. 5 stars for action/adventure 5 stars for character development 5 stars for comedy 5 stars for music 5 stars for visuals, landscapes, etc. 5 stars for magical realism ...and a touch of romance. Have trouble relating to your manly-man dad? Kind of a loner or an outcast? Have you always wanted to prove yourself? What about always wanting the most epic dragon? This movie is for you! I also recommend the VERY different but incredible book series, How to Train Your Dragon, by Cressida Cowell.Definitely a favorite movie. 5 stars for action/adventure 5 stars for character development 5 stars for comedy 5 stars for music 5 stars for visuals, landscapes, etc. 5 stars for magical realism ...and a touch of romance. A masterpiece in a year full of them.
It's been a great year for wonderfully creative and beautifully made and acted movies from Inception to Scott Pilgrim, we've been blessed with many genre bending films in mainstream movies this year, however, How to Train Your Dragon should be placed near the top of the heap of great movies that have come to pass in 2010. No it's not a genre bending mashup of si-fi and thriller like Inception or Horror-and slap-stick comedy like Splice, but it is one of the most heartfelt movies to come along in many years. You all know the story, Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) the village screwup in a viking village is a continuous thorn in the side of his father Stoic (Gerard Butler), who of course is the clan leader and the perfect example of what a viking should be, whereas Hiccup is his ... The problem that both of these men face is that Dragons invade and steal their crops and live stock on a nightly basis and it's happened for generations, as long as the Vikings have been there, the dragons have been there. I know it's a very simple premise, but what really works here is the acting, all the characters are cast perfectly and they all hungrily and feverously play their roles to perfection, especially America Ferrera, whom gracefully and literally becomes Hiccups love interest Astrid. Ferrera is one-uped, however, by none other than Toothless, the Night Fury Dragon who is captured by Hiccup. Toothless is quite literally the most lovable onscreen pet ever, once be becomes comfortable with Hiccup he becomes much like a cat, and behaves like your everyday domestic pet, and that entails the arch of the movie, it is truly a marvel to watch. Not to mention the best use of 3D in a film all year and that includes Avatar. If it weren't for Toy Story 3 this movie would top my list of best movies from 2010, I recommend this movie to absolutely everybody, because thats was the intended audience for this film and it succeeds and surpasses those very high standards with "Flying" colors.

Yay!!
My toddler got the last How to Train your Dragon movie from a relative for Christmas. He is OBSESSED!! We have been watching it non stop since. The other movies and TV series have been difficult to find! So glad I found this one since I also thoroughly enjoy these movies!
