Anthony Bourdain's book, "Kitchen Confidential"
Great book, I listened to it on cd, and it was read by the author. I like Anthony's dry wit, sarcasm and knowledge of the culinary world. I wrote down his ideas for a perfectly suited kitchen with knives etc. and made a list of what I would need to complete my kitchen. I can promise that you will not get bored with this book, lot's of insight as to what you should and should not order in a restaurent, certain foods certain days of the week you should avoid. I think it would be fascinating to sit and have coffee with Anthony, I know under that craggy and tough exterior there is a soft egg underneath.Great book, I listened to it on cd, and it was read by the author. If You Eat Out - You Gotta Know This Stuff. Much of what is written (said in this case on CD's) rings true with me. I was in the Industry for over 20 years, it's like old home week. I don't miss it, however, there were some good times had by all ... and the winners were the Customers. Bourdain holds no punches back. So, get ready for the Bold, the Bloody and the Ugly Truth.

Honesty and passion drip from every syllable as he shows, in memoir style, how his aggressive, addictive ... Anthony Bourdain serves up a tough, candid, humorous banquet of entertainment and information in Kitchen Confidential. great read needs some recipes and less obscenities
Bourdain is a great writer and reader (he reads his own book). The book is very entertaining but is superficial. Bourdain doesn't really explain why a kid from a privelaged background does more drugs than the average pharmacy stocks. Bourdain is a great observer and relates what he sees very well but only on a superficial level. In other words he paints well but he analyzes nothing. I kept hoping for some insight, some motivation but nothing. I was hoping for some recipes, some explanation of a dish ot two but zip, nothing. It's like Bourdain cooked to get the material for a bunch of books rather than the other way around. This could have been a truly great book instead of just highly entertaining but for mindless entertainment with a few good tips about what days of the week to ... Bourdain is a great writer and reader (he reads his own book). The book is very entertaining but is superficial. Bourdain doesn't really explain why a kid from a privelaged background does more drugs than the average pharmacy stocks. Story Time....
In his own voice and words.. Very clear audio and I think it is better hearing the book read by the man himself rather than just reading it myself. Lots of fancy culinary words mixed with off color remarks. CLASSIC.
