À propos de ce produit

Product Information

From the best-selling novel by Peter Benchley, Steven Spielberg directed this thrill ride of terror. During the height of beach season, the Massachusetts resort town of Amity Island is terrorized one summer by surprise attacks from a great white shark. Three unlikely partners team up to hunt down the rogue and destroy it: the new chief of police from New York (Roy Scheider), a young university-educated oceanographer (Richard Dreyfuss), and a crusty old-time fisherman (Robert Shaw). The film shoot was notoriously difficult for the young Spielberg, who had directed only one feature film before JAWS. The mechanical shark seldom operated correctly, and Spielberg was frequently forced to create the idea of terror without actually showing the shark. However, after the film premiered it went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time--surpassing THE GODFATHER and becoming the first film to gross more than a hundred million dollars. Composer John Williams created the score to JAWS, which has since become a well-known theme of impending doom. Ron and Valerie Taylor were responsible for filming live sharks in Australia; their sequences were later mixed with footage of the mechanical shark.

  • Great Classic Thriller - beautiful re-sample!

A great summer classic from the mid-70's. We had a 25th anniversary edition, with small booklet, that went missing, but, if it re-appears, the DVD in that kit will never be watched. This 2000 Edition is superior in sound and picture. Love it! The packaging itself is understated, disguising what a terrific version of the classic this release is.

  • Great extra features

JAWS has always been one of my top three movies of all time. Absolutely top knotch storytelling, cinematics and acting. This DVD has several added features, such as outtakes, deleted scenes and interviews about the movie's production. Very enjoyable.

  • JAWS-DVD

This is the Original 'Don't go in the water movie! When an insatiable great white shark terrorizes the townspeople of Amity Island, a police chief who is afraid of the ocean played by Roy Scheider (The Punisher, The Russia House, RKO 281, etc), a grizzled shark hunter (Robert Shaw) and an oceanographer played by Richard Dreyfuss (Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Always, The American President, etc) seek to destroy it. The shark has other ideas and proceeds to attack the boat they are on and tries to kill them at the same time. A cat and mouse type chase ensues and becomes a white knuckle adaption of the Peter Benchley novel that the movie is based on. Master director Steven Spielberg ( Muchich, Minority Report, Saving Pvt. Ryan, Jurassic Park, etc) works this movie in a great ...

  • Jaws, the classic!

The classic, suspenseful monster movie. Completely satisfying in the cast, the plot, the scares, and the finale. Odds are, you've seen it before and know all that only too well. Possible objections? Some may argue that they can tell the killer shark is animatronic. However, it was state-of-the-art in its time, and its performance did not dissapoint. (Personally, I found it preferrable to all the CGI done in recent films.) The rating? It's PG-13, but it really should be considered an "R". There is a particularly bloody moment towards the end that deserves R-rating. Special Features? This edition includes a nice featurette on the making of "JAWS". It includes interviews and behind the scenes info that makes for good extended entertainment. A reel of deleted scenes is also ...

  • Jaws (1975)

I bought this movie because I LOVE IT! This is one of those "greatest movies ever made." It has comedy and suspense, and Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary, Robert Shaw and all the others are great in this film. It was as if the film was made for them. The idea of a shark hanging around a beach for food wasn't heard of as much when this was made, but we sure do think about it now. Larry wasn't on my good side with his stubborn-headedness about closing the beaches and risking lives. I love the part where Roy Scheider is shoveling chum, bolts upright and backs up and says, "We're gonna need a bigger boat." Richard Dreyfuss was collected throughtout, except with the hole in the boat under the water. That still scares me, and I know it's coming! Get the movie---you won't be sorry. ...
