John Woo Presents Stranglehold stars martial arts star Chow Yun-Fat as Inspector Tequila, a detective in Hong Kong's police force in search of his kidnapped daughter. The game features a single-player story mode in which players take the role of Tequila and fight their way through cities such as Hong Kong and Chicago to locate the missing child who is held captive by mafia members and gangsters. <br><br>Players will have the opportunity to earn style points by performing such moves as running up banisters while shooting, and when enough points are acquired, gamers can execute moves that include the "Tequila Bomb" or enter "Tequila Time." "Tequila Time" is a sequence during a gunfight when enemies are slowed down while players maintain their speed, making it easier to hit targets. <br><br>Up to eight players can get involved in multiplayer action through the Internet, and the environments within the game are fully destructible and interactive. The Collector's Edition is presented in Blu-ray format and includes both the full game and the film Hard Boiled.

Delivers a satisfying, action game Experience.
Stranglehold isn't the sort of game that's going to set the shooter genre on fire. It's a more-than-competent take on an existing formula, and it has enough unique moments and overall challenge to succeed. Sure, it gets repetitive at times, it's got a few design quirks, and the multiplayer is borderline irrelevant. But there's enough solid, exciting action here for shooter fans to sink their teeth into. It's a short ride, but an amusing one while it lasts. The frugal one says, buy it. Definitely worth a few weekends of fun. At least it came with a movie too.
Id say this one should be rated 5 out of 10. Im big into 3rd person shooters so this one struck my interest. I may or may not finish it though. Would I buy it again if it were stolen of lost? No. There is definitely non-stop action in the game. Just like the movie actually. The violence in the game shows animated blood but its not totally distasteful like some games where they try to make it too realistic on a kill shot. Id let my 13yr old daughter play it. The "Tequila Time" - aka Matrix slo-mo is a neat little feature that allows you to take out several different targets quickly when in a jam. Plan to use it ALOT in this game. There are places in the game you simply can not make it through without using it. Neat little feature though none the less. Inspector Tequila seems to have ... He'll jump up on said item and show off his best "Dukes of Hazzard General Lee hood slide" without a seconds notice. Kind of lame in a way. The boss battles are just a little on the ridiculous side too. Tequila has a pistol and the bosses have rocket launchers, for example, and can take 100 shots to the head without dropping. Camera angles leave you standing there being shot with nothing more than a small red arrow saying from which direction the shots are coming from. By the time you spin the camera around youve been shot 15 times. All in all its not terrible. Ive played worse thats for sure. But at the end of the day, Im just glad it came with a movie too so I dont feel totally ripped off.

Video Gaming Pure Fun
I loved the pure destruction of it all, anything you shoot at will react (people, buildings, objects). The over all look of the game was not bad and yet could have been better for such an advanced system. My advice to anyone on the fence about buying this title, try it out for pure fun it won't disappoint. On the other hand if it's story and grafics mix in with new and exciting game play, the I want to find something wrong with anything gamer may not like this one. With the great prices you can get on ebay, the special edition is worth picking up, I just happen to love this type of movie (bonis with special edition). Buy if you are John Woo and Chow Yun Fat Fan!!
A lot of people seem to not like the game. I agree that multiplayer is a little bad, but come on, Tequilla time and Gun shooting showdown? That is totally original to me. The soundtrack is pretty good too. What impress me the most is when you go berserk mode with a shotgun. You literally tear down mobs and the environment. Watch it go! For all you max Payne, john woo, chow Yun fat fans, this is a must buy. My only regret with this game is that they should have made Chow Yun Fat Speak in Cantonese! Timeless release, that is still awesome to play
I think this game was a little bit ahead of its time upon release. The movements of the main character are awesome. Rail sliding, jumping on moving carts, sliding across the floor while firing, really cool. I had this game when I first got my PS3, but I wasn't all that familiar, with the controls. Now that I have mastered the PS3 and control patterns, this game is very much appreciated. It is a very creative 3rd person shooter, with lots of action.
