Greatest Thanksgiving Movie Tied with Planes Trains and Automobiles
I LOVE this movie! I watch it every year around Thanksgiving. Sometimes it is available on streaming but not always. I tried to buy it digitally, but couldn't find on itunes either. eBay to the rescue. I have recently become obsessed with Charles Durning's works. I'm learning more about his roles and his personal military history. Anyone interested, search him on youtube to hear him tell his experiences on D-Day. I LOVE this movie! Home for the Holidays = Hilarious!
I chose to purchase Home for the Holidays because it's a movie my mom, sister, and I always watch around Thanksgiving. I just moved out on my own and figured I needed to have it on DVD for myself. It's a great movie. It's funny and I think almost any family could find something they relate to in it. It's not a happy, happy holiday movie. It's about how family drama impacts holidays. Holly Hunter and Robert Downy Jr. (along with pretty much the entire rest of the cast) are GREAT in it. It's hilarious...I highly recommend it. You should know that there are sexual references, crass humor, and language in it...like I said, not necessarily a heart warming holiday movie for the whole family.I chose to purchase Home for the Holidays because it's a movie my mom, sister, and I always watch around Thanksgiving. Sad and Depressing
I got this for a friend who had lost her copy, and she told me that I could watch it before I gave it to her. Big mistake. My friend loves this movie and laughs when she talks about it, so I had high hopes that I would like it too. For me, this movie was just very sad and depressing. Someone please tell me what's funny about a brother who seems to take great pleasure in taking pictures of his sister when she's in various states of undress? Then there's the poor aunt who apparently has been in love with her brother-in-law forever, and as much as admits so at the Thanksgiving dinner. I speed-searched through some of it, and watched it to the end with some hope that it would get better, but it never did. What's really sad is that there were some really good ... Great Title
Loved this movie - was a great family story that everyone should watch. Tells the story of a young single mother returning home to visit her family for Thanksgiving and all the things that happen during her visit with her siblings, parents and aunt. I could relate to many of the things she went through so really enjoyed watching. I love this movie! It is the ultimate story that most of us can relate to about a typical American family and their disfunctional Thanksgiving holiday! Claudia (Holly Hunter) is leaving to head back to her childhood home for Thanksgiving with her family, leaving her teenage daughter to stay with her friends back in Chicago. And let the adventure being! From her zany brother (Robert Downey Jr.) and his friend (Dylan McDermot) who crash the holiday get together to her crazy Aunt who reveals a long time secret to the family... this movie will keep you in stitches and then leave you thinking...."maybe my family isn't so bad after all!"I love this movie!
