À propos de ce produit

Product Information

In the tradition of Resident Evil and Devil May Cry comes The Suffering, a survival horror game set in a haunted penitentiary. Players must not only confront the spirits of executed inmates while advancing through the game's nine levels, but also fellow criminals on death row, prison guards, and other characters. The 12 supernatural creatures in the game were designed by the legendary Stan Winston, best known for his Academy Award-winning work in Aliens, Jurassic Park, and A.I. Players are cast in the role of a troubled inmate named Torque, who has been condemned to death for a crime he may or may not have committed.

When the spirits of the prison inadvertently free him from captivity, Torque begins a grueling quest for survival as he uncovers the clues to make sense of his bewildering past. To battle his grotesque foes, Torque can find and use ten different weapons, ranging from revolvers to Tommy guns. The protagonist also hides a dark secret that allows him to transform into a superhuman creature when pushed too far, at which point he can unleash his pent-up rage for a limited time. Levels are set within prison walls as well as outdoor surroundings, as enemies attack from jail cells, torture chambers, underneath the ground, from behind trees, and more. During the game, players can make certain decisions that will eventually lead to one of three possible endings.

  • The Suffering: Prison is Hell

I bought this game because I love horror movies and I heard this is a really scary game. It does scare me a bit, but I'm easily scared, so I can't say it's the scariest game around. With that in mind: I liked the idea of choosing the level of play - easy, medium, and hard. I chose easy and thus far, it has been fairly easy to beat the bad guys. I also am choosing to be "good" however there are two other choices based on a persons play. They can choose to be good, medium, or evil. I had a hard time with the controls, but if you are used to playing resident evil (PS1) then it should be fairly easy to learn the controls for this game. Most of the time finding your way around is easy, but there are times you can get lost trying to figure out which way to go next. For the most part, I ...

  • Fantastic, atmospheric game

The Suffering is a third-person shooter that was grossly overlooked by the masses upon it's release. Portraying a typical silent hero, you're Torque, a man alone in a prison on a haunted island, with creatures representing the various methods of throughout the island's sordid history, begin manifesting, attempting to kill you. Packed with various "moral choices," you have the option of being a hero, a villain, or largely neutral to the goings on of those you encounter throughout the game. It's packed with intense music, visceral scenes, and a ton of jump-in-fright moments in the game, the atmosphere by far is the best thing going for this game. The graphics are a little dated by today's standards, and the controls could use some work, but other than that, I highly recommend picking ...

  • A great unknown treasure find

I bought the game because it's got a good review from one of the game magazines. But with no high expectation due to its low/reduced retail price, I didn't care much of it until I actually played it. I played other horror games such as resident evil(most of series), silent hill(1,2,3,4), fatal frame, etc, but the game's got a different story to begin with and a somewhat different style as other games may have shown in the past. It's a 3 year old game, and I think it's still good enough to compete with other newer games out there for ps2. Overall, I recommend this game to try as I've enjoyed playing this game. Certainly, you can't beat the price.

  • great product just what i was looking for

Besides some minor scatches on the disc it work perfect on my playstation 2. I also got the case and manuel in great condition. The suffering is a great horror game, it is a more run and gun type game with some minor puzzle. it has a great story line and depending on your action in the game, determines the outcome of the game ending. One of the best features in the game, is that you can change the view of the game from first person to third person with just a press of a button. Just keep this in mind this game had a 50/50 love/hate relationship with the gamers. Those that love it just loved it, and those that hate it just hated it. To me that what make the game unique I have never seen a game that had that type of rating. the norm is, if the game is bad than most people would say its ...

  • My "Suffering" has ended...

Two weeks ago my brother told me he had just finished playing this Survival Horror game called The Suffering, and that he had thought it was amazing. He said it's even scarier than resident evil or silent hill. He made me promise to buy it and play it. He said in his opinion the game was 10/10. Well.... With recommendations like that you would think you can't go wrong. I was planning to find it for $6 to $7 used at some point anyway and play it but after my brothers recommendations I bought it new for $19.99 + shipping and tax which came to about $26. I put the game in and saw the intro, and the game started. It seemed adequate at first. But the controls were very bad. And the camera angles were VERY bad at times (even on 3rd person view). I got motion sickness after 1 hour and had to ...
