Who's Afraid of the Gallant, Dashing Huntsman...?
This is a very dreamy almost stage-like presentation of this darker "Little Red Riding Hood" tale. Not for the kids, mostly because they'd be bored with this type of horror after seeing "Saw"! Kinda for you folks who like an artsy-twist to your fairy tales! Gotta love Angela Lansbury! (Or was that Sir Paul McCartney...?) Oh well! It would make a great double-feature with Angela's 1982 stage version of "Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" or even Sigourney Weaver's "Snow White - A Tale of Terror"! An entertaining movie between a fairy tale and horror show! See box cover.
The Company of Wolves is a dark, a bit sensuous version of Red Riding Hood; definitely an entertaining movie if you like a little fright mixed in with your fairy tales! I bought it for my sister who likes to be scared a bit. We both enjoyed it very much. The setting is a woods (maybe the Black Forest in Germany) long ago where life was simple. Work, eat, sleep, watch out for wolves. Reminds me a little of a much milder, simpler version of Twilight. LOVED Angela Lansbury's Grandma part!The Company of Wolves is a dark, a bit sensuous version of Red Riding Hood; definitely an entertaining movie if you like a little fright mixed in with your fairy tales! An obscure but GREAT werewolf movie
I think there are many werewolf movie fans out there, but if you consider yourself one and haven't seen this one yet, well, you're in for a surprising treat! Well acted, with a great screenplay and decent special effects, this will probably be one of your favorite werewolf flicks. Angela Lansberry (yes, Murder She Wrote) performs superbly in an unexpected role for her and will absolutely creep you out! Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to Grandmother's house we go... IF YOU ARE BOTH A FAN OF FANTASY AND HORROR THEN YOU ARE SURE TO ENJOY THIS 80'S VERSION OF LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD. THIS IS ONE OF THE BETTER HORROR/FANTASY MOVIES OF THE 80'S WHICH WAS IN MY OPINION THE BEST DECADE FOR WELL MADE AND VERY REALISTIC SPECIAL EFFECTS IN MOVIES OF ALL SORTS. The Company of Wolves
It's obviously an 80's movie, and doesn't have the graphics we are now used to. However, I love the whole story line. And I just seem to have a thing for werewolves...
