This wonderful book by Deepak Chopra will totally make you look at life and your own life differently. The author is a spiritual man. I bought this book several years ago lent it out to a friend and it was never returned. I bought another copy and to prove there was some significance in doing this, I opened up the title page found that it was written out to Susie (also my name) and signed by the author. Digestable Experience of Enlightenment
I have always wondered what it is like to achieve enlightenment. The novel holds your hand and like a sharp blade slices into that realm of what really is. Because of the description of Buddha's developing years, the explanation of what is difficult to conceive of because we live in a reality of the seven physical senses in a world of matter and time, that energy in it's various forms do exist to our calling,..... is given a palpable opportunity to understand. The encounters with the mind or 'ego,' as it whittles itself into identification as self, changing destiny and causing misery is realistically pointed to as very influential characters in each individual's lives. The beginning of the book is interesting as a story for the young as well as adult, but as an adult, I began waiting for ... I have always wondered what it is like to achieve enlightenment. The novel holds your hand and like a sharp blade slices into that realm of what really is. Because of the description of Buddha's developing years, the explanation of what is difficult to conceive of because we live in a reality of the seven physical senses in a world of matter and time, that energy in it's various forms do exist to our calling,..... is given a palpable opportunity to understand. The beginning of the book is interesting as a story for the young as well as adult, but as an adult, I began waiting for climaxes which didn't come as anticipated. After finishing the book, I have realized that it is a book that can be read many times, the reader seeing different meanings as layers unfold, depending on the age and experience of the reader. The bulk of the novel is about humans, the very familiar existence of suffering of the rich as well as the poor, interspersed with flashes of happiness. There are challenges where mental input greatly influences the outcome. The reader gets the feeling each incident was written with purpose, and not just to entertain. The general calling of the writer is for the reader to see wisdom in the depths of the story, akin to Aesop's fables, but as if wisdom was a pyramid and we were exploring the base rather than the tip. I bought the book because I was curious. I have experienced and know suffering is a delusion, or an illusion, depending on how you want to look at it as. Having gotten that far in realization, I wanted to see what doors were there to experience in this realm of existence once I found Deepak Chopra teachings are in the purer forms of spiritualism.

Buddha by Deepak Chopra
This is an excellent book. The author Deepak Chopra is very well known and highly regarded. This is one of his really good works. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in this religion.

Interesting.....
While I was reading this book I noticed there were many differences in the other versions of the story of Buddha that I have read in the past. However, I really enjoyed this book. The story is exciting and keeps you wanting to get to the next chapter. Although I felt some areas could have elaborated more it was still a wonderful read!!

Buddha as a real person
Written as a novel, this tale will give you a sense of the 'person' of Buddha. It is a very quick and smooth read. I found it interesting even though I am not interested in Buddhism.
