Product Information

This classic tale of teen rebellion features a delightful combination of dance choreography and realistic, touching performances. When teenager Ren (Kevin Bacon) and his family move from big-city Chicago to a small midwestern town, he's in for a real case of culture shock. Though he tries hard to fit in, the streetwise Ren can't quite believe he's living in a place where rock music and dancing are illegal. There is one small pleasure, however: Ariel (Lori Singer), a troubled but lovely blonde--who also has a jealous boyfriend. In fact, it is Ariel's dad (John Lithgow), a Bible-thumping minister, who is responsible for keeping the town dance-free. Ren and his classmates want to do away with this ordinance--especially since the senior prom is around the corner--but only Ren has the courage to initiate a battle. Ren's pent-up frustrations cause a confrontation with Rev. Shaw Moore and the local town council as he takes on the small-town establishment struggling to abolish the outmoded ban and revitalize the spirit of the repressed townspeople. Herb Ross's fast-paced drama is filled with such hit songs as the title track and "Let's Hear It for the Boy" and is a classic of 1980s Brat Pack cinema.

    Footloose...Still A Classic

    This movie, in my book, is still one of my all time favorites. It spoke to me on several levels. When I was young, I had mover around a lot..house to house, as my mom & dad were renters. I know how it is to move to a new area, and have to start over making friends. And yes, sometimes you are just not accepted by some people. I especially loved this movie because it had dancing in it: one thing that I have never been able to master. I have often been awstruck by a good dance movie: whether it was break dancing, hip hop, dirty dancing etc. I respect the people who let it all hang out. Footloose made me feel that even I could be accepted; and even as a dancer. Now as a father myself, I can understand and feel the pain that the preacher must have felt; in trying to protect his only ...

    I have on vhs-updating to DVD. Reasonable cost for an '80' s classic. Great performances by Dianne Weist, John Lithgow( who plays his roles feircely), Kevin Bacon at his sexiest, Christopher Penn at his best( R I P Talented young man).The dancing was an added perk to this engaging story."     THIS FILM, FOOTLOOSE, STARS KEVIN BACON AND IT'S ABOUT HOW A YOUNG PERSON CAN CHANGE THE THINKING OF A SMALL TOWN PREACHER PLAYED BY JOHN LITHGOW. IT HAS A GREAT SOUNDTRACK WITH SEVERAL BIG SONGS THAT WERE HITS ON THE RADIO. THERE'S ALSO A LOT OF DANCING DONE BY A STAND-IN FOR KEVIN BACON.     Awesome great deal product for you money's worth.

    I enjoyed reminiscing the days of yester-years. Don't like to input on people's culture and way of life but this movie was satisfying for the change that took place. I seen this movie twice on TV already and probably see it again if shown, besides the point that I purchased the DVD too! I liked the final approved to dancing part which will assist in adding ideas to a program of an up and coming event that's scheduled in the near future. I'm just glad where you can purchase and be able obtain DIVs of movies you desire and be able to use any time.
