Product Information

Dabney Coleman starred as a TV anchorman that audiences loved to hate in this controversial 1980s sitcom. Bill Bittinger (Coleman, DOMINO) is Buffalo Bill, a Buffalo news anchor with frustrated dreams of making it in the big time. He manages to take out his disappointment on all those around him, in excessive displays of sexism, prevarication, sanctimoniousness, and egomania. His girlfriend is Jo Jo White (Joanna Cassidy, VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN), seemingly the only character impervious to Bill's bullying, but she sticks with him nonetheless. Hilariously black humor ensured that audiences were polarized over the show, and occasionally contentious subject matter (Jo Jo gets an abortion at one point, without suffering repercussions) was presumably behind the show's cancellation after only two seasons. In the first season, Bill nurses his damaged ego when the ratings drop, Wendy (Geena Davis, STUART LITTLE, in one of her first roles) is insulted when Bill insults a guest she has invited on the show, and Bill's estranged daughter turns up after a decade of separation.

Regrets, regrets....
I loved this show....but is was sadly cancelled after only two seasons. This show had Seinfeld potential before we even knew who Jerry Seinfeld was...If you compare the first two seasons of Buffalo Bill and Seinfeld you will notice the similarities in the slow but compilation development of the main characters and their quirks. Characters that we got to know and love for nine seasons of Seinfeld but only two for Buffalo Bill....oh what could've been..regrets, regrets. Brandon Tartikoff, the then NBC President, even lamented in his memoirs that his biggest professional regret was cancelling Buffalo Bill.....I loved this show....but is was sadly cancelled after only two seasons. Dabney Coleman at his best.
Dabney Coleman plays the title, buffalo Bill .an upstate talk show host. He Brings all his personality which he made famous in the movie “9 to 5”. The supporting cast has many characters known better for other work, but they all work together to bring a “family” touch to the series.

Perfectly cast 1980's sitcom
This 3 DVD set (the complete series) is a blast from our 1980's past. A time when political correctness wasn't heard of. Nowadays it would be considered as a vulgar and hurtful vehicle. Buffalo Bill in my mind was perfectly cast and was right up there with All in the Family or WKRP in Cincinnati.

The main character is a real downer for sure but that is what makes the series watchable. Just to see what he says or does next.

Dabney Coleman's character is such a masterfully played egotistical JERK!
This was one of my favorite shows of the early 80's & the DVD brings back EVERY aspect that I loved & remembered with total clarity. (Dabney Coleman) Buffalo Bill hosts a daytime Buffalo, New York TV talk show & is a smooth talking (but likable) & opinionated JERK, who is constantly looking to see how ANY situation can be profitable...only for HIMSELF. The cast is full of top actors who went to become stars AFTER this show was summarily cancelled. There is even a brief appearance by Jim Carrey as one of many Jerry Lewis look-a-likes for a station contest! If you are a fan of ANY of the actors in this show, you will be delighted with the excellent chemistry of the cast & will marvel as they survive Bill's daily egotistical shenanagins!This was one of my favorite shows of the early 80's & the DVD brings back EVERY aspect that I loved & remembered with total clarity.
