Product Information

The year was 1957, the month September, and I had just turned eight years old. Dwight Eisenhower was President, but in my life it was the diminutive, intense Sister Mary Lurana who ruled, at least in the third-grade class where I was held captive. For reasons you will soon understand, my parents had remanded me to the penal institution of St. Brigid's School in Westbury, New York, a cruel and unusual punishment if there ever was one. Already, I had barely survived my first two years at St. Brigid's because I was, well, a little nitwit. Not satisfied with memorizing the Baltimore Catechism's fine prose, which featured passages like "God made me to show his goodness and to make me happy with him in heaven," I was constantly annoying my classmates and, of course, the no-nonsense Sister Lurana. With sixty overactive students in her class, she was understandably short on patience. For survival, she had also become quick on the draw. Then it happened. One day I blurted out some dumb remark, and Sister Lurana was on me like a panther. Her black habit blocked out all distractions as she leaned down, looked me in the eye, and uttered words I have never forgotten: "William, you are a bold, fresh piece of humanity." And she was dead-on. One day in 1957, in the third-grade classroom of St. Brigid's parochial school, an exasperated Sister Mary Lurana bent over a restless young William O'Reilly and said, "William, you are a bold, fresh piece of humanity." Little did she know that she was, early in his career as a troublemaker, defining the essence of Bill O'Reilly and providing him with the title of his brash and entertaining issues-based memoir. And this time it's personal. In his most intimate book yet, O'Reilly goes back in time to examine the people, places, and experiences that launched him on his journey from working-class kid to immensely influential television personality and bestselling author. Readers will learn how his traditional outlook was formed in the crucible of his family, his neighborhood, his church, and his schools, and how his views on America's proper role in the world emerged from covering four wars on five continents over three-plus decades as a news correspondent. What will delight his numerous fans and surprise many others is the humor and self-deprecation with which he handles one of his core subjects: himself, and just how O'Reilly became O'Reilly.

The book is in great shape. This morning i opened the package it came in, it was nicely packed but what caught my eye and gave me a smile was the thought of my cat, Bobo. He was born April 15 2023 in a litter of 4 kittens 2 boys and 2 girls. Bobo is a Big boy. He prefers inside and doesn't go outside, my only cat that doesn't go outside. He loves me, he's daddies boy, i feel that same way towards him. He's the fattest cat I've ever owned, BIG boy ! Made a good thing better.

  • "You are a PINHEAD if you don't read it!"

I bought this book because I am a big fan of Fox anchor Bill O'Reilly and "The Factor" television show. Obviously, he does talk about the book on the show. This man is an American patriot and does not care who he has to criticize in order to bring the truth to light! This autobiography tells about how Bill O'Reilly was raised in a suburbian middle-class "Ozzie and Harriet"-"Leave it to Beaver" environment, constantly caused trouble at his Catholic school, gained a name as a troublemaker and made most think he would end up in the penetentiary! The book is both funny and touching. Instead, a strong faith in truth, America, and God has allowed this strong American patriotic voice to represent the fight for justice and the truth! Read all about how Bill O'Reilly has become an American patriot ...

  • HITS HOME

THIS WAS A FANTASTIC BOOK FOR ANYONE READING IT. HOWEVER, IF YOU WENT THROUGH 12 YEARS OF CATHOLIC EDUCATION...LIKE I DID...IT REALLY HITS HOME. IT IS VERY WELL WRITTEN AND HUMERUS AND FACTUAL AS WELL. I TRULY ENJOYED THIS BOOK.

  • good book

I couldn't wait to read this book. I bought it this morning and left work early so I could read it. Why? Because Bill Oreilly fascinates me and I thought his memoir would give some real answers as to how this man, who truly is an American original, thinks. First off, I actually had the privilege of meeting and briefly working with Bill Oreilly. After graduating college in the early nineties, I wrote to Mr. OReilly and asked him for advice on getting a job in television. I knew nothing about him, only that he was a fellow graduate of my high school (Chaminade High in Long Island) and that he was the anchorman of some show called "Inside Edition" (which I had never even watched) To my surprise, Mr. OReilly not only responded but invited me to the studio, took me to lunch and offered me a ...

  • I love Bill O'Reilly's books

I bought 2 of these to give as Christmas gifts. My son introduced me to Bill O'Reilly back in 2001 and I have really loved his show ever since. Of course my DS is getting one for Christmas this year. The other is for a friend of mine, who is an O'Reilly fan. I can relate to Mr. O'Reilly too as I was raised in a catholic school in Massachusetts, St. James, where I think I had a nun named Sister Mary Catherine who seems to fit the role of his nun in his Catholic School where he was raised. He looks so cute on the cover ot the book too, in his first communion outfit.

  • Bold Fresh - A great Read.

You don't need to be a fan of Bill O'Reilly to enjoy his book, "A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity." In the book, Mr. O'Reilly, discusses many topics and centers around growing up in New York in the 50's and 60's. How we are, who we are, is the question, and all of our experiences make this happen. In detail Mr. O'Reilly discuses his experiences and why they made him, who he is. A good read and entertaining. This is not just another media book by a celebrity out to pad his or her bank account but a book definitely worth a look.
