    Apocalyptic 1984

    In June of 1993 a boat grounded off New York City. On board were 300 Chinese illegals who had travelled for three months .They had promised their smugglers $20,000 to $30,000 to be paid out of their future earnings. They immediately requested political asylum and No One was ever sent back. In 1971 Jean Raspiail wrote this book as a satire on immigration. A armada of boats filled to capacity with homeless from the Ganges sets sail to the west. The Politicians map the progress of the boats and discuss what to do. Do we let them in and take care of them , or stop them & send them back.? The dialogue in the book is actual quotes of Newsmen, Priest and Politicians on immigration and what to do about it . The Fleet of the Homerless makes their way to France and invades . This spells the ...

    Disturbing, troubling, prescient.

    I was recommended this book by Phyllis Chesler. After reading it I decided I wanted to have this book always in my bookcase. I'm sharing it with my friends. In the current world climate I consider this to be an extremely important novel, prescient since it was written many decades ago. It is a disturbing book. I very strongly recommend that you buy it and read it. I am a prolific reader and this is one of the most engrossing novels I have read in my life. It has caused me to reconsider my opinions about immigration and globalisation. Buy it. Read it.

    Disturbingly accurate novel portraying life as it is in our own day!

    Great novel with a very close connection to the world as we are experiencing it today! It is very prophetic in its vision of modern society, even though written in the early 1970's! Highly recommend this book!

    Chillingly prescient

    First published in 1974, this tale of a million-strong immigrant invasion of Europe seems ripped from today's headlines. Raspail's prose is artistic, if occasionally florid, and his characters are memorable. A great read.
