The Super Nintendo Entertainment System deserves a Super Mario hero, and that's exactly what you get with "Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World." This Nintendo game features five remade Mario NES games on a single SNES cartridge. This compilation game truly is an all-star edition that provides huge upgrades to the originals. All five Mario side-scrolling platformer games with a release date between 1985 and 1990 are included in this game. Even one version that was exclusive to Japan before 1994 is included. The unique design of this old-school game allows it to take advantage of Super NES hardware, including 16-bit graphics and parallax scrolling to enhance playtime. Fans of Super Mario Bros will appreciate that this game includes all of the pizza-loving brothers' best adventures. What that means is the brothers are represented the same way they were originally, but made better.Although the games are technically remakes, each is almost identical to its original. One of the most notable differences is found in "Super Mario World." Here, designers made Luigi's sprites brighter to easily distinguish him from Mario. Super Nintendo felt that gamers weren't cognizant of the differences between Luigi and Mario, which led to some confusion. The changes to Luigi's costume are also present in the All-Stars version. Meanwhile, the traditional Mario costume remained unchanged. The video game was originally released in 1994 and is rated KA, which makes it kid and family friendly. Each platformer game offers scrolling backgrounds, lots of enemies, and over 52 worlds to conquer. Enjoy all three Super Mario games plus Lost Levels and "Super Mario World" in "Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World." While each Mario choice resembles the NES originals, all five are enhanced as SNES games with updated graphics. Even the sounds in the All-Stars are better. The Lost Levels was the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros, and before this compilation was released, the video game was not available outside Japan. For most gamers, the Japanese version, sometimes referred to as Super Mario Bros 3, is harder than all other options on the cartridge. You can store up to four different save points and play the classic games on your own schedule in your own world. The original versions of Super Mario Bros did not allow players to save games, so this is an exciting update. The addition of this feature allows anyone to save their progress and resume playing whenever it's convenient. Gamers can also customize the controller for the All-Stars and Regular modes. For instance, the jump and dash actions can be configured to different buttons on the controller. Remakes don't always work out. Franchises don't always put out sequels that pique the interest of their fans. However, this 5-pack blows other remakes out of the water. The Mario Bros from Nintendo managed to keep all the charm of the original games and refine them to take full advantage of superior hardware.

One of the best games every created.
This game is by far, one of the BEST games EVER created! And that's saying A LOT considering how far the gaming world has come since it's release. If Super Mario All Stars wasn't enough by itself, Nintendo definitely kicked it up 100% by adding Super Mario World! Of course retro games are not as cheap as the used to be but after shopping around, $50 for 1 cartridge of awesomeness is a far better deal than paying almost $75 for the same exact game or $40 for each game separately.This game is by far, one of the BEST games EVER created! Great value
This game is an amazing value as it has 5 full Mario games on it, Mario 1, Mario 2, Mario American, Mario 3, and Mario world. All of the games from the original Nintendo have great updated graphics and sound/music. This is also one of the only ways to play the real Japanese Mario 2, as it wasn’t originally released in the us. Overall, this is a great value as it gives you some of greatest Mario experiences ever in a single game cartridge.This game is an amazing value as it has 5 full Mario games on it, Mario 1, Mario 2, Mario American, Mario 3, and Mario world. All of the games from the original Nintendo have great updated graphics and sound/music. Graphics: 8/10 Colorful cartoony graphics that are prettied up from the original 8 bit games to reflect the capabilities of the SNES machine. The animation of large Mario/Luigi running in SMB1 is a little weird looking though. Sound: 8/10 Appropriate sounds and catchy musical tunes. However you may grow tired of some of the sound effects being repeated in the first four games from Super Mario World. Control: Precise controls with the standard SNES controller. SMW is the most complicated, but the learning curve isn't too high, and the other games are even simpler. Challenge: These are the types of games that require memorization. Some of the gameplay in the earlier titles are repetitive, but the presence of "warp zones" and other secrets help to make up for it. These ... These games were originally designed for kids with lots of time to memorize patterns and mazes though, so be warned if you have a shorter attention span for such games. A "world save" (not sub-level save) has been added to the first four games to save your progress which helps somewhat. Many levels require precise jumps, and repeatedly missing the same jump or being hit by a random enemy can be frustrating. SMB2 is probably the most "relaxing" of the series as it doesn't have the same restrictions on movement, time limits, etc. as SMB1 and "the Lost Levels." Replay Value: At first these games may seem repetitive, but finding secrets and testing out new strategies can bring replay value. Multiplayer is a bit lacking (except for the "Battle Mode" in SMB3), as the players simply take turns, or compete for points. While some may not like the "remade" graphics and sound, the gameplay in these five titles is solid. Super Mario Bros., "The Lost Levels" ("Super Mario Bros. 2" in Japan, a much harder version of SMB), Super Mario Bros. 2 ("Doki Doki Panic" in Japan, the character sprites and a few items were changed for the US release), Super Mario Bros. 3, and the SNES Super Mario World (unchanged from its original stand-alone incarnation). The games are more or less identical in gameplay to their NES 8-bit counterparts. The infamous "minus world" trick in SMB doesn't work anymore though. SMB 3 allows you to play a 2 player "battle mode" right from the title screen (in a remake of the original Mario Bros., only competitive style). For NES nostalgics and for those who simply enjoy colorful platform games with cutesy characters, this is a must own. For collectors: please note that this game was actually a pack-in with the redesigned Super Nintendo console, and thus while there is a manual, there was never an official box released. However you can pretty easily find a clear plastic case to protect your treasure.

A must own for anyone with a SNES
This game is very amazing. It's a compilation of all the NES Mario platformers games (the games that made Mario popular) updated in 16-bit graphics along with the very popular and good SNES launch game: Super Mario World. I will break this down in 5 parts (one for each game). Super Mario Bros. The Mario game that started it all. The plot is the same in all Mario games: Mario has to save Peach from Bowser. 8 worlds with 4 levels in each. Very fun platformer. Super Mario Bros. 2 Not really the real sequel to SMB. It's just another game (Doki Doki Panic) with Mario characters thrown in. Still a very fun game, but very different from the real Mario platforming gameplay. 7 worlds with 3 levels in each (except that the seventh one has 2). Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels The real SMB ... This game is very amazing. Super Mario Bros. 3 The thrid installment of Mario series. Each of the 8 worlds now have a map that you can scroll through to select the levels. There are also many more levels than in the previous games. Along with places where you can get powerups and minibosses you fight for some powerups/items. There are also an abundant amounts if powerups and items that allow you to throw fire, fly, swim better, skip levels, and skip worlds. There also many many secrets within tha game; some that trigger events. Many people consider this the best mario game ever. Super Mario World One of the first game released for the SNES. This mario game is just like Super Mario Bros. 3 only, with new powerups and secret exits that lie between the levels. There are also 2 ways to jump, a sidekick dinosaur name Yoshi that you can use along with Mario, a secret world, and many other things. A very good game that is worth buying on its own included in this already well collection. With all 5 of with great games in this collection, it is very much worth it to buy this if you have a SNES. No SNES collection should be without it (unless you already have Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World seperately). This game is absolute must purchase.

This cartridge contains a 16 bit overhaul of the three classic Super Mario Bros. titles that were released in the US on the NES, plus the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 (dubbed 'The Lost Levels' here in the States). It also contains the SNES Super Mario World, which brings the total number of games on the cart to a whopping five. If you love old school platforming games, or if you just love Mario (or Luigi like myself.. more on that later), or if you collect/play old video games/systems.. this cartridge is a real treat to own. Across the board graphics were updated to 16 bit, the sounds were updated to be more in line with Super Mario World, and the music for each game also got a 16 bit remaking. The old NES sounds and music had a certain charm to them in some regards, I admit, but the ... Heck, Nintendo is currently rereleasing Super Mario All-Stars for the Wii.. ..but it doesn't include Super Mario World, which is a shame. My one complaint on the whole cart is the physics change in the remake of SMB1/Lost Levels. When you busted a brick from below in the original, you got bounced downward. In this remake, you get sucked upwards slightly for some strange reason. It's very minor, but it was enough to annoy me greatly as a child. The secret coin pipe in World 1-2, for example, you could walk along the bottom and collect the coins, while busting the bricks above to collect both rows of coins at once. In this version, doing that is a very annoying task. Now that I'm an adult I really don't mind it so much, but I figured I should mention it. As a final note, the real treat for me on this whole cart is the fact that Luigi has his own custom sprites in every game. He is no longer a simple pallet-swap of Mario. He was even give his own custom sprites in Super Mario World, which is the only real difference that game has when compared to its original incarnation. ♥Luigi P.S. Forgot to mention that a couple bugs have also been fixed.. like the 'minus world' glitch in the original Super Mario Bros.
