This AF-S DX Nikkor F3.5-5.6G ED VR lens by Nikon offers a focal length range of 16 to 85 millimeters. This is suitable for great wide-angle photos and photos that need as much of a zoom-out as possible. The maximum aperture range of f/3.5-5.6 allows for image effects, from blurry bokeh backgrounds to clear backgrounds for landscape photography. The lens has a built-in autofocus motor, so you can take sharp and clear photos quicker and more efficiently. The ultra-quiet motor makes for near-silent operation when in use. If you require a great zoom lens for your photographic needs, this is a good lens to have in your bag. This particular Nikon 16-85mm lens has been designed specifically for Nikon DX DSLR cameras. This includes everything from the D40 to the D300. With a minimum focus distance of just 1.3 feet, you can properly capture any object you want to. An image stabilization system is also included with this Nikon Nikkor AF-S lens. This system offers lengthier exposure times of up to 4x shutter speeds for any in-focus image. This is particularly beneficial for portrait photography and wide-angle shots. When using this Nikon lens with your digital SLR, the aperture settings are controlled directly from the camera. At around 10 ounces in weight, these Nikon lenses are extremely portable, whether currently attached to a camera or not. The body of this device is constructed from a metal mount and plastic barrel, which ensures its longevity. The dimensions for this Nikon lens are 2.83 by 2.83 by 3.35 inches, so it's definitely small enough for a bag. These AF-S 16-85mm lenses were first placed on the market by Nikon in 2008. They consist of a stylish black body with white and gold lettering for a professional look. This f/3 lens is made from a total of 17 elements in 11 groups. When taking pictures, you'll notice that it captures many details due to the 83-degree wide angle of view. The zoom on this Nikon telephoto lens comes with a 5.7x magnification. This allows you to accurately hone in on any object you see in the distance. The extra-low dispersion glass components found in this Nikon device offer a reduction of chromatic aberration. This results in a much sharper image with proper color grading. It also comes equipped with three aspherical lens elements. Out-of-focus objects within images are made to look clearer due to the inclusion of a seven-blade diaphragm. This diaphragm has a rounded design. Whenever you need to change between the autofocus and manual focus modes, a useful switch is included. This switch is located towards the mount and allows for quick switching between modes with minimal time lag.     Nikon AF-S DX VR 16-85

    I'm happy with the quality of this lens vs. the 18-55 VR it replaced. In comparison to the 18-200 VR this lens offers much less distortion on both ends of the spectrum. The focus is fast, motor is almost silent and tack sharp throughout the focal lengths. It is built quite well and looks like it will hold up for quite some time. There is a metal lens mount with a rubber seal to keep out the elements. The body of the lens is a tough plastic, however the barrels are made of metal. It accepts 67mm filters and comes with a nice petal shaped lens hood. The only shortcomings of this lens are in regards of the speed. F/ 3.5 - 5.6 is relatively slow. You will find in low light conditions, such as dimly lit indoor areas that this lens will not perform as well as one would hope. Focus is still on ...

    My new lens!

    Arrived earlier than expected. Works great. It's my go-to lens for general out and about shooting. The 16mm focal length adds an extra dimension to my style of photography.

The pictures are coming out very nicely. The lens appears to be in great condition. I am looking forward to using it for landscapes on my trip to Montana. I will enjoy shooting different landscapes with this wide angle lens! I think this is a good purchase.

    An excellent mid range zoom worth every penny, I would buy again! Love It!

    I am writing this review with the understanding that this lens is being judged as a all in one zoom in the US 500-$600 price range. I have and currently own a number of quality Nikkor lenses. I purchased a D7000 to replace my D700 camera and I needed an all in one lens to "Get Me By" until the D700 replacement came out. I have owned the Nikkor 18-70vr in the past and currently own a 24-70mm FX. I have also owned a number of other mid range zooms such as the 24-85g, the 17-55g etc. I purchased the 16-85 because I was looking for a step up lens to the "Kit" lenses bundled with the D90 and D7000 D-SLRs. I wanted a lens with improved performance with a metal mount and it had to have VR. I also wanted a lens that was wide enough to make it an enjoyable walk around lens. The 16mm wide ...

    Great studio lens!

    Just received this lens a few days ago and only had tested it indoor at night shooting things around the house last night getting ready for my photoshoot today. I haven't got good results even with the internal flash going off on the camera (settings were iso 800,wb flash, shutter 125, and fstop 5.6. The images were still dark and soft. Today I've just did a studio shoot with a female model and the images were sharp and bright with a pair of whitelightnings. Because of the lack of space I had to work with, the wide angle 16mm came in handy to do full body and the 85mm telephoto part was great for doing quarter body to headshots. Keep in mind the crop factor 1.5X on the camera expanding the lens zoom because it is a DX lens from 16-85mm to 24-127mm when using on all none full frame camera. ...
