King Ralph
John Goodman delivers a hilarious performance as Ralph, a Las Vegas lounge singer who is fired from his present job (his act being replaced by a monkey), then finds out he is the heir to the English Monarchy, by way of a photographical catastrophe. A comical portrayal of the differences in manners and habits between this American from a city that never sleeps to the royalty they need him to be to hold the country together. His American flamboyance cannot be completely curtailed and leads him in the wrong direction on several occasions (for example, falling for a sales clerk who tries to make fast money to help out her family who have been unemployed for over a year by taking up exotic dancing--just the kind of woman he has been looking for, but a near disaster to the monarchy), and much ... He is also less than pleased to find out that he is expected to marry who he is told, and ensure that he provides an heir to the throne of proper birth (given his less than desirable geneological history). Roaring laughs abound as Ralph tries, in his American way, to find solutions to his English dilemma, being who they need him to be without loosing himself in the process.

A sweet cute fun RomCom.
My wife and I saw this movie when it came out and both loved it. It has become a undeservedly rather obscure John Goodman movie. I never forgot it and was finally able to get around to finding a copy on Ebay recently. Id recommend it to anyone for the sweet romcom it is.

Just a fun movie
The plot is engaging and fun (with a few twists and turns) and the actors are very believable. Highly enjoyable movie we will watch again and again!
