Hillbillies are people too.
This documentary shows that the often misunderstood Hillbilly is just as an important part of American history as the cowboys, and businessmen are. It's good to see some history about a group of Americans who have been misunderstood for many years. Many consider Hillbillies to be like the Clampets from The Beverly Hillbillies or like Abner from the Lil' Abner cartoons. Not so sofisticated, simple minded, lazy, and always shooting shotguns and rifles at each other. I find my self even more proud to be from Kentucky and gladly take the mantle of Hillbilly after seeing this documentary. As the documentary points out Hillbilly may not be sofisticated, but they make up for it with their work ethics and their uncomplicated views on life. I learned from my Grandfather and my uncles, all who ... A Must See if you live in the South/East
I watched this Story on the History Channel and it was so very interesting. I'm from Georgia, but I recently had my family tree traced back to Tennessee, and found out that I'm part Irish. This DVD explains so much as to where my Irish Ancestors and my American Ancestors, "hooked" up, & came from, and not only that but if you live in the South/East this is a MUST SEE!!! I have to give it **** !!!!I watched this Story on the History Channel and it was so very interesting. Saw on History Channel, very eye-opening and positive
"Hillbilly" often has a negative connotation. I saw this on History Channel and learned alot about their history, their contributions to the Revelutionary War, their work on the railroad supply for coal, their battles and their fierce self-sufficiency dating back to the Scotch Irish heritage. Bought as a gift for a "hillbilly" friend who at first thought it would be a "typical" view of hillbillies."Hillbilly" often has a negative connotation. This documentary covers all aspects of Appalachia life. Being from WVa. I found it very interesting. However it covers all of Appalachia from Georgia to South Carolina to North Carolina to Tennessee to West Virginia, etc. It was very entertaining and would be so even without any connection to the Appalachia area. Worth the money and worth the time!
