Thirty four years ago a murder occurred in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The pregnant wife and two small daughters of Green Beret Captain Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald were murdered in their home. MacDonald reported that intruders had entered his house attacking him and murdering his family. The army investigated which led to him being the suspect and an Article 32 hearing was convened. The result was lack of evidence for a court martial. He applied for a hardship release and was given an honorable discharge. The CID continued to reinvestigate him for another 2 years finally submitting their finding to the Department Of Justice with recommendations to indict him for the murder of his family. It would take nine and half years to bring him to trial, but Colettes family along with those who worked the case never gave up and when one thing failed it only gave them strength and courage to try something else. the murder saga of Jeffrey MacDonald bring true crime aficionados no closer to a mind convincing verdict as to who killed his family - wife Colette and young daughters Kimberly and Kristen but this rendition of the crime forces the read to make a final choice. Jeffrey MacDonald remains in a federal prison convicted of the 1970 murders by a federal jury in 1979. Having peppered the appeals courts and indeed the Supreme Court more times than any other convicted murder in the countrys history with all appeals being denied. the scene investigating done honestly and with an absence of malice and provides a new look into the evidence and the investigation and prosecution of MacDonald that his followers may find some glee in but alas no fodder for another appeal. It covers the evidence presented as well as the evidence that was not. In the end the reader decides in their own jury room where guilt truly lies and if justice was served regardless of the tortuous route taken to get him convicted. A must read for true crime aficionados.
