Collect as many classic books in print form as possible because the publishers are rewriting the originals to conform to the Woke Cult sensitivities!

Many years ago in high school this book was a class assigned read. I started reading about 9:00 pm and couldn't put the book down until I turned the last page at dawn. "1984" was futuristic at that time. I was enthralled, captivated and astonished all at once to watch as a society came under the control of "Big Brother" and lost every bit of its freedom, one right after another until they were near suffocation by restrictions. At a gathering at a neighbor's recently, it was hard not to find the similarities between this book and the tightrope of a life we live today - at the hands of government. A young enthusiastic reader that was present couldn't quite grasp what we older adults were talking about. This life that we live today is all she's ever known. The lack of privacy, ... Options without severe consequences doesn't exist for our young people today. The elders in the room remember a better life when freedom meant we lived a life able to learn from our mistakes. Before "1984". I wish George Orwell would have written a sequel. I'm sure we would find eerie similarities in that as well. In his book, the inability to explore and enjoy the small trails off the road created a generation too afraid to walk but a straight line. Equating his community with our own, our generation having known those freedoms will one day vanish. What we will have in place is adults that are molded to make one of two choices. Either stay in the straight line, which is an extreme form of submission, or strike out and be the enforcer. I bought "1984" for this young reader knowing that after having read the book, she wouldn't need anymore explanations.

Important Book
Yes, it's true. This probably is the most important book ever written. The impact this book has had on language, culture, and freedom is huge. Terms like Big Brother and Thought Police and doublethink all trace their roots back to this book. If one were to read this book with the evening news in mind they would realize that it's not much of a stretch to say that this book is in many ways prophetic. You cannot walk in England without government cameras following your movement. The USA is headed in that direction and the average joe is more than willing to give up freedom for "Safety". And what about the saying "War Is Peace" Kind of sounds like what our leaders are telling us now. "Freedom Is Slavery" and "Ignorance Is Strength" also sound eeriely familier. This is a MUST READ. 5 ... Yes, it's true. This probably is the most important book ever written. The impact this book has had on language, culture, and freedom is huge. Good condition should not include written notes in margins
Fair condition would have been more accurate given notes written in the margins. The book itself is a classic "must read", which I had not read in many many years.
