Roger Tory Peterson's original text has been revised and updated by Virginia Peterson, who worked closely with her husband and created the maps for the fourth edition of the Field Guide to Eastern Birds; Noble Proctor, a professor of biology who was a close friend of Roger Tory Peterson's and led natural history tours for twenty-five years; and Pete Dunne, vice president of the New Jersey Audubon Society and director of the Cape May Bird Observatory, as well as the author of many books on birding. The maps have been updated by Virginia Peterson and Paul Lehman, past editor of Birding magazine and a bird tour leader who has traveled extensively around North America studying bird distribution and identification and has written many articles on these subjects.

    Concise, yet packed full of information.

    I’ve used Peterson’s field guides for nearly 50 years. For the student, hobbyists or professional, these books are a handy field and home/office reference guide.

    Great Edition of this Field Guide!

    I have had a copy of this book for 15 years. My granddaughter was fascinated with mine, so I got this one for her. Pictures are excellent, and the descriptions very informative and easy to read.

    This is a fantastic steal of a deal. Everything you would want to know is in it,good for amateurs like myself to learn from. So much info! My favorite of my birding books. I’m going to get one for my car and keep one at home.

    One of my favorites

    This is a great book for basic reference on birds of Eastern and Central NA. I keep it by the window for when I observe the feeder. and can now identify many migrating as well as local birds.
