Product Information

Based on the series of novels by Christian historical fiction writer Janette Oke, LOVE COMES SOFTLY was first aired on the Hallmark Channel. It tells the story of a young woman named Marty who travels with her new husband Aaron out west to make a home for themselves. Once there, however, Aaron unexpectedly dies, and a heartbroken Marty must now figure out how she will make it through the cruel frontier winter alone. For this reason she accepts the recently widowed Clarke's proposal, as a matter of survival. The two strike a deal, as he needs a mother for his child while she requires a roof over her head, and the pair agree that she will return home in the springtime. But love blooms during the cold months as this uncommon little family discuss important questions about life, love, and God, and struggle to help each other grow in the unfriendly winter environment.

    A Surprisingly GREAT Made-for-TV Movie

    If you are like me, you probably have a somewhat discriminate palate when it comes to movies. Afterall, time is precious right? That is why I really do not like made for tv movies. To be honest, alot of them have a great story to tell but they end up having lousy actors or are just plain hoakey. This is certainly not the case for this movie which premiered on the Hallmark Channel. Out of sheer boredom, I ordered this movie from Netflix. I had already watched all the good movies in my "Que" and this was last to watch. I popped it into my DVD player and found that I really did not want to watch it, but since I had a recent knee surgery, there was very little I could do to keep myself entertained. So, to break it down, I was desperate for something, anything, to watch. Let me tell you.... ...

    Very catching. It is true--love doesn't always come like fireworks in the sky, but softly, gently and unexpected.

    It is a very good story. There is laughter and tears and the characters are interesting. It has a very good moral point in the story. The way the story will lead you to the next story in the series is very good. It's interesting to see what will happen in the next story in the series. The value is good. Money well spent. There should be more stories like this one. Michael Landon,Jr. follows in his Dad's footsteps of directing. That is great! Janette Oke is a very good writer. I look forward to more movies like "Love Comes Softly".

    Good Story, Good Cast

    The story of Marty: The beginning of the Love saga. Each chapter in the each film that briefs different stages of lives in the different timeline and characters. Its the dramatised romance stories in the times of the cowboy culture in the United States, but in the realistic approach. This film is a salute to the men and women of the 1880s in the west. Through hard work and relentless courage, they were able to survive the vicissitudes of nature. The film is a good one as it deals with a new theme in a very serious way. The theme being that people, who have lost their mates, marry at once, to provide for surviving children and to ease their loneliness.     Great love story!

    This is just the best movie ever! Spoiler alert. Only Halmark could kill off a lead character so peacefully, so bloodlessly that we aren’t sure he’s dead for several minutes. Get this movie. Watch it with your loved one!
