Product Information

An impetuous princess discovers that her reckless choice has put both her family and her father's kingdom in peril in this animated adventure from Pixar films. As a toddler, Merida (voice of Kelly MacDonald) saw her father, King Fergus (Billy Connolly), do battle with one of the fiercest animals in the kingdom -- a horribly scarred hulk of a bear named Mordu. Though Fergus lost his leg defending his family, Merida and her mother, Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), managed to escape the beast before it vanished back into the forest. Years later, Merida has grown up to become not just a skilled archer, but also a beautiful princess who inspires a competition among the eligible bachelors in the land. But Merida has little interest in getting married, and the harder her mother pushes the issue, the more fiercely she resists it. When the tournament for her hand gets under way and a deep divide opens between mother and daughter, Merida makes a wish that threatens the future of both her family and the entire kingdom. Now, with only a brief window of time to set things right, Merida must summon the courage to atone for her mistake and prevent a past tragedy from destroying any hope for a peaceful future.

Brave - An Animated Treasure!
Every time Pixar releases a new, animated feature film, the bar just gets raised higher. Brave tells the story of a rebellious teenaged Scottish princess Merida and the life lessons she learns. There is an enveloping mixture, of action, mystery, humor and magic that would make Walt Disney proud. Great voice overs from Kelly McDonald (Boardwalk Empire), Emma Thompson, and Billy Connelly. I would suggest watching the extras first, seeing the efforts of the Pixar crew in visiting Scotland and the feeling and emphasis they put into the production. The icing on the cake is the beautiful Scottish scenery with stunning hyper-realistic animation. A decent film, is a misfire for Pixar
After the 2011 Pixar misfire with "Cars 2" I had expected for Brave to be much better. Only better by a little Not anywhere near Pixar's USED TO BE great story telling, characters, etc. You follow the story then you go into this weird story line that true you did NOT see coming BUT just went south from there. No spoiler alerts although I will say it had to do with Oscar winner Emma Thompson's Queen Elinor. For a 5 disc set, this SHOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER. I always look for extras like "Making Of" on Disney/Pixar films. NONE here, there are plenty of extras but none of real interest to me. They made a new Disney Princess that just stands out because of her appearance, the red hair. If you want to go to a GOOD liberated Disney Princess look at 1992's "Aladdin" for Princess ... Brave HD in 3D is a must see!!!
Brave is a 5 Disc set with a DVD, a Blu-ray, a Bonus features Disc, a Digital Copy, and a 3D Blu-ray!!! Great Movie with a Great Price!!

a great movie for the kids and adults
"brave" is a beautifully animated movie. even with cars 2 the pixar crew created dazzling visuals so it's not surprising that brave is a feast for the eyes. directors mark andrews, brenda chapman and steve prucell make sure that everything from merida's flowing red hair to the fish swimming in a rocky scottish river are luxuriously rich in detail. this is a great movie and it is a better movie than cars 2. the animators did a great job. especially if you get this movie on blu ray. the kids will really love this movie."brave" is a beautifully animated movie. even with cars 2 the pixar crew created dazzling visuals so it's not surprising that brave is a feast for the eyes. directors mark andrews, brenda chapman and steve prucell make sure that everything from merida's flowing red hair to the fish swimming in a rocky scottish river are luxuriously rich in detail. this is a great movie and it is a better movie than cars 2. the animators did a great job. especially if you get this movie on blu ray. the kids will really love this movie.
