Product Information

This sequel to 2007's on-rails offshoot of the Resident Evil franchise stars characters Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield for more "survival shooting" action from a first-person perspective. Once again the gameplay involves pointing your Wii Remote at the screen to gun down zombies and other ghastly creatures created by the nefarious Umbrella Corporation. Scenes will automatically advance at key points, allowing you to simply focus on aiming and firing. A new twist to the action is an evade system that involves using the Wii Remote to minimize damage received from the horrors lurking within each setting. Solo players can team up with a computer-controlled partner or join forces with a friend for simultaneous shooting. Weapons can also be upgraded and customized before each scenario.

Significantly better experience than Umbrella Chronicle
The story’s a bit silly, but hey, so is the entire Resident Evil universe, and at the very least, it’s pretty cool to see how well this game sandwiches a new story arc into the familiar scenarios. If you’re a Resident Evil freak I think you’ll appreciate how this one ends, but if you’re not up on your Biohazard history, you’ll probably be a bit lost. The rail shooter genre will never be the true Resident Evil experience, but Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles shows that the franchise can be spun out into different, successful styles of gameplay. Even with my complaints about the bouncy camera, I believe this follow-up is a significantly better experience than the original Umbrella Chronicles and one fun ride from start to finish. 8.0 Presentation The story assumes you've played much ... A decent amount of options even with some awkward restrictions. 9.0 Graphics The game looks fantastic: excellent character animations, environments, and lighting in realtime, and the CG cutscenes are excellent. Lipsyncing needs work, but it's a minor quibble. 8.0 Sound The dialogue isn't as laughably bad as some previous Resident Evil efforts, but it's pretty cheesy nontheless. The moody background music sets the tone in a great way. 8.0 Gameplay The early issues with the bouncy camera is a big hurdle to get used to, but once you do this is a really fun shooter. Even if it's a bit repetitive. 8.0 Lasting Appeal Surprisingly lengthy and replayable. A SECOND TAKE ON SOME RE CLASSIC STORIES
First of all, I have to admit I really liked the first entry in the series (known as "Umbrella Chronicles") and, of course, I was looking forward to a sequel. But, somehow this title had been slightly difficult to find, at least in my country. The game features better graphics and more action than the first title, and, even more important, it gives you the chance to live again (from a different perspective) some of the most consecrated stories in the RE canon: Resident Evil 2 & RE: Code Veronica as well as another story that may work as a prequel to Resident Evil 4 events. The game is basically a rail shooter (like “The House of The Dead” series), with a limited movement. And you will fight against lots and lots of zombies and mutated beasts. Difficulty is adjustable and there are ... Difficulty is adjustable and there are several items hidden trough the scenarios of the game. It also features two different endings according to your play performance. Nevertheless, this second part failed to impress me. Probably because it is not a big improvement over the previous installment (in fact, the biggest change is the bumpy and somewhat irritating camera) and it is not a long-lasting game (It took me around 8 hours to beat it) but still is pretty fun to play with, specially if you have a partner to enjoy the 2-players mode. Besides, CGI cutscenes are very nice and the music suits very well the ambience. If you are a die-hard Resident Evil fan, do not think twice: This game is perfect for you. On the other hand, if you are only curious or dubitative about getting or not “Darkside Chronicles” I will suggest you to try it out first (maybe rent it). Hope you have found this info useful.

Nicely done
Everything was so nicely done - graphic, game control, shooting accuracy and story line. I am especially impressed by the graphics. Facial expressions are so real and natural, and most female characters (especially Claire Redfield) are absolutely gorneous (more so than their original images). Headshots can be performed so much more reasonably than that in the Umbrella Chronicles. It was nearly impossible to score above a B, not to mention As, in UC, so I really appreciate DC for making me feel like I am a legitimate on-rail shooter again. Weapon customization system is greatly improved from UC, and the effect of upgrading your weapons became more visible. Most importantly, you can now improve your best friend - handgun. If you were to pick out an obvious negative, I would say that the "Z" bottom (or maybe the "C" bottom, don't quite remenber) which can be used in place of "A" for aiming and picking up item, cannot be used to avoid damages in cut-scenes (either that or it is not sensitive enough), forcing the player to leave his/her index finger near "A" to standby and pull the trigger with the middle finger. This unnatural movement leaves your palm sore rather quickly. But overall, nice improvement from the UC, and a different type of fun from classic shooters like House of the Dead. A must for rail shooter lovers.

One Of The Best Games EVER! A Most Have For The Resident Evil Fans!
I bought this game searching for a great game to play with my little sister that bought herself a Nintendo Wii, and wanted me to play alongside her. After making the purchase of 2 Wii Zappers and a friend giving me the controls for a weekend, the goodness began! This game is freaking incredible for Resident Evil fans, and people really looking for a great, fun, entertaining, movie like game! It's a rail, first-person shooter game in which the main story is based somewhere between Resident Evil Code Veronica X & Resident Evil 4. You start in a village, kill some zombies, beat a boss monster, and then you go straight to the past; to Resident Evil 2. You play the important events from RE2 since entering the city, the Police Station, the sewers, the lab; everything leading into the killing ... After playing all the chapters, you go play the main story again; and.... FINISH THE GAME?! Yeah! The game is short, but is not as easy as it seems. You get to upgrade your weapons by playing the chapters over and over again, until you collect sufficient gold to upgrade your weapons. Believe me! Some boss and not so normal monsters are really hard to beat! You really need to play the chapters, get the money, upgrade the weapons, and then you're really going to kick some!!! I played a whole weekend to beat this game! It has only been some hours since I beat it! Now I have to play the extra chapters and beat it on normal & hard difficulty settings. Playing alone or alongside a partner it's really a great time. This one is really a great game and it will stay in my collection forever! PS. To die-hard fans of the Resident Evil series..... The game plots have been changed from the original games. You play co-op with a partner or ''the game itself'' with 2 characters being together everytime. You know that in the real videogames, you're really ''All By Yourself'', but in this game is not that way. Still... ''the computer partner'' doesn't help much, but enhaces the plot. AGAIN! This is great, fun game, and a highly recommend it to have a good time playing from time to time! Also!!! If you play really great, you may open new locked chapters to understand what really happened to Jack Krauser before Resident Evil 4! Resident Evil: ''The Darkside Chronicles'' really makes a great addition to your videogames collection!

This on-rails shooter re-opens the book to Resident Evil's 2, Code Veronica and also enlightens a new chapter and details the relationship between Krauser and Leon to see what exactly went wrong between the two leading up to Resident Evil 4. The game also uses the "Blair Witch Project" shaky cam method to really help sell the feeling of fear and haste. Although this may get a bit annoying, any horror love can easily appreciate this feature. Being such a fan of Resident Evil 2, it was great to see such detail put into recreating the Raccoon City disaster and onward. For me- this game is reason enough to own a Wii. Graphics are incredible, music and replay value are stellar.
