Far Removed From Buffy Vampire Slayer Character
The DVD has two versions, widescreen and pan and scan. I bought movie to replace my VHS. The movie is charming and engaging. Romantic with fantasy elements that aren't realistic, with premise of magical crab conjuring spells. Sarah Michelle Gellar color of hair is brown instead of blonde. The ending is abrupt. Slight humor dispersed within movie without removing pure love story angle.

One of Gellar's better movies.
While it seems as though many of Sarah Michelle Gellar's movies were hit or miss, this is definitely one of her must see movies, the character she plays is likeable and the movie has its funny moments.

Simply Irresistible is just that!
I loved this movie from the first time that I saw it and have watched it numerous times since and still love it every time I watch. Amanda (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) is an aspiring chef who was left a restaurant called the Southern Cross by her mother who has passed away. Amanda is not at all the cook that her mother was and she is losing the Southern Cross when on one of the last days she was to be open she met an unusual person in the marketplace, Gene O'Reilly,who talked her into buying a crab. This changed her whole life...she mets a rich young executive who is also at the market and he later finds himself magically at the Southern Cross on the same afternoon. That starts a whole new direction for her life. The film has magic, music, love and fantasy all rolled into one great ... I loved this movie from the first time that I saw it and have watched it numerous times since and still love it every time I watch. All in all it is a cute movie that has been able to stand the test of a little time since it's release in 1999 and hopefully will be around a long time.
