French filmmaking brothers Jules and Gedeon Naudet came to New York in the fall of 2001 to make a documentary about a rookie fireman from Manhattan's Engine 7, Ladder 1 company. On the morning of September 11, while the production was still in the early stages of filming, the project become something that no one could ever have expected: the Naudet brothers accompanying firefighters to the World Trade Center and capturing on film their valiant efforts to get survivors to safety. Originally broadcast on CBS television, 9/11 is a heartfelt, often shocking--but never exploitative--portrayal of the horrific events of that historic and tragic day. A portion of the proceeds from the video will benefit the Uniformed Firefighters' Association Scholarship Fund.

    The Day of 9-11 documented as it happened.

    So it happened there was a French Documentary Film Crew recording a day in the life of a NYFD Fire Station in Manhattan the day of 9-11-2001. As a New Yorker in the diaspora I was gut shot that day. I have never felt that I was in the wrong place more than that day and the weeks following. This is the best imaginable coverage and preservation of this tragedy for history.

    An actual piece of history as it happened

    This tape if the actual footage taken on 9/11. It is a snapshot of history, showing what happened to ordinary people that incredible day. The film crew was shooting a probationary fire fighter and became witnesses to the 9/11 tragedy. It does an excellent job of telling us how this group of men were placed into an extraordinary situation. We see their bonding, their dedication, their fear, and their courage. It documents how the world changed that day, right before our eyes. This is the best film available that clearly describes the events and shock of that day, without political comment or needless gore. It is a witness to those who died. The incredible timing of the film crew and the fire fighters being in that time and place as history happened before their eyes is breath ...

    Totally well done documentary of a tragic day in New York City.

    Incredible documentary of what was first only supposed to be about FDNY recruits and then it eventually turns into a piece of history unintentionally. Very well done documentary by the Naudets, no question about it! Being a native of the New York metro area in northern New Jersey, this really hit an emotional note with me as well too! I would most certainly recommend this to anyone who loves a very good documentary, no question about it. Was it sad and one of the worst days in American history? No question about it that it was, but it also shows the unbelievable effort by the FDNY firefighters to save as many lives as possible in the Towers before their imminent collapse.. Many lives were tragically lost that day, but thanks to the hard work and dedication to their job as FDNY ...

    Very grateful to have this video

    I have this dvd, bought it at Walmart for $14.95 when it first came out in 2002 because I wanted to have something for my grandchildren to view first hand rather than only in history books. I agree this was the worst thing that happened in my entire life and I am 59 but its also history. The brother filming used discretion while in the tower, you can hear the loud thuds of people hitting the ground as they jumped from the tower but they chose not to film it out of respect. I am grateful those two brothers were there and risked their lives to capture this video for my grandchildren and someday their children as well as help out as much as they could.

    100% History

    This Documentary is September 11th 2001, I'm basically saying that what you are watching is 9-11 taking place right in front of your eyes all over again. This movie is without doubt a movie that the educatuional system should instill as an elective movie for our young adults to watch so that they can get the understanding that can only be portrayed by witnessing 9-11 as if they were in the 1st person perspective. Buy and keep so someday when your kids, or grandkids ask about 9-11 you can give them a glimpse back into history in a way that makes history more than an old story or event, but everpresent and thought changing. God Bless the many lives that were extinguished on September 11th 2001, and the next time you see anyone in a branch of public service take the time to thank them for the ...
