Krush Groove
Set in 1985, the New York underground is bursting with new talent, and Krush Groove is the label. The producer (played by Blair Underwood) has the talents of Run DMC and Kurtis Blow to bring in the cash, but not enough to stay afloat. His struggle of greed and power leads him to the fast paced world of seedy characters that will stop at nothing to make sure his debts are paid. Watch as his dream shatters and he looses everything that he worked for. A rising young star (played by Sheila E.) is trying to make it big and gets lucky enough to hook up with Krush Grooves number one act (played by Run DMC). But what happens when their help is for romantic reasons, and she doesn't feel the same way? Krush Groove stars many of the 80's hip hop artists and is certainly one of the motion ... After all these years, it still rocked!!!!
There's an era that you gotta have respect for and that is the 80's, with it's honest rap lyrics and it's edgy fashion and most of all it's talent. You had to have heart to survive the 80's successfully! Love it, love it, love it... still! How could you not? Krush Groove, my dear, is a keeper for all of those reasons. It is our walk down memory lane... with a twist. One thing is for sure, Run KILT it dead with the King of Rock. One of the corny films of the 80's yet it's amazing.
The clothes,the music and even better the STARS OF TODAY. It's the story of RUN D MC,RUSSAL SIMMONS,RICK RUBEN, and how 2 guys changed the face of music forever. And they did it out of there collage dorm room,with russal's brother RUN and there friends DMC & Jam master Jay they made up one of the best rap groups of all time. Also in the movie is SHELA E',NEW EDITION,THE BEASTIE BOYS,LL COOL J,and THE FAT BOYS, also one of the masters of rap KURTIS BLOW. The film is corny but it was history and it is very fun to see them as kids after all mr REV RUN who is a father of 5 kids and stars on mtv about his family is young ,raw, and in charge.....this film is a MUST for any rap fans and for you kids out there who know nothing accept, lil wayne,gucci mane,ludacris,young jeezy and the new leaders ... Small time record label owner discovers talent and tries to produce and promote their talents. But money isn't always forthcoming and has to resort to some dealing with a shadey money man. Meanwhile, Sheila E. gives a great performance throughout with her acting and musical talent. Especially the song HOLLY ROCK. Great great retro movie for any 80's original rap and R&B fan.Classic 80's artists and up and coming artists that are now world reknown come together to portray a story that could be true to life.
