You can expect nothing less than a series of spine-tingling ordeals when two masters of horror, Stephen King and director George Romero, team up to produce a timeless masterpiece. 'Creepshow' involves five frightening tales that leave your mouth agape. First, a distraught father comes back from the grave for the piece of Father's Day cake that his murderous daughter never gave him. Secondly, a naive farmer discovers a meteor that unbelievably turns everything into plant-life. Thirdly, a wife cheats and the vengeful husband buries her together with her lover up to their necks in the sand and waits for the high tide to do him the honor. Fourth, a professor without hesitation chooses his nagging wife to be a tasty delicacy for a peculiar crated creature. The film ends with a final ironical tale, involving a billionaire with a phobia of insects inevitably facing an army of arachnids.

Creepshow DVD
CREEPSHOW is nearly in a class all by itself. Based on EC comics of old, it also takes a cue from the old Amicus anthology films as well. I'm giving this DVD 4 instead of 5 stars only for the picture/sound....not the movie itself which deserves 5 stars. That said, if you just want a copy of this excellent film on disc, you can find it on eBay on DVD for a song. Now that Creepshow has been re-released on blu-ray in an elaborate Collector's Edition (at a much higher retail price) you may be able to find the OOP 1st issue blu-ray for cheap on eBay....if you just want the movie and don't care about extras.CREEPSHOW is nearly in a class all by itself. Good For What it is.
"Creepshow" has to be taken for what it is.It is a movie that pays homage to the old E.C. Comics such as "Tales from the Crypt", "The Vault of Horror", and "The Haunt of Fear".In this regard,it works almost perfectly.Mixing horror storys with a little bit of humor thrown in.It even has a comic book look in some scenes.There are five storys in the movie,the best being "The Crate".It was written by Steven King and directed by George Romero(not a bad combination).The cast works well in this movie.Hal Holbrook,Adrienne Barbeau,Leslie Nielson,Ted Danson,and others star.Stephen King even acts in one of the storys,"The Lonesome Death of Jody Verrill".Some of the storys might scare some people,but most will see it for what it is.Still a good watch for horror fans and fans of the old comic books."Creepshow" has to be taken for what it is.It is a movie that pays homage to the old E.C. Creepshow is AWESOME
Creepshow Although it feels really corny, Creepshow is one of, if not the best Horror Anthology Film ever made. With 5 great stories Creepshow delivers thrills and chills. Story one is great and features a man returning from the grave to exact revenge on his murderous daughter. Story two is about an alien life form and a not-so-smart farmer. Story three is about a vengeful husband and his attempt at redemption. Story four is one of my all-time favs and featues a mysterious crate. And story five is about cockroaches, and is actually pretty terrifying. Creepshow is one of the best anthology films ever made and will always have a place in my heart. Final Verdict: 5/5 Rent or Buy?: If you love horror, and you love short stories Creepshow is an absolute must buy. IF YOU FIND THIS ... Spooky fun!
I have always loved this movie. It is so much fun to watch. It is PG spooky with comic book effects and gore and lots of strident violin music. I frequently am in the mood to watch just one of the 5 stories, which makes having it on DVD very handy. Each story has at least one great line (for instance: "Tell it to call you Billy, everyone does"-The Crate--You have to watch it to get the joke). If you like your horror with a bit of laughter, you'll love this!I have always loved this movie. It is so much fun to watch. A MUST HAVE if just for the QUOTES you will recite!!
Ahhh...Creepshow. Plain and simply...You HAVE to have this one in your collection. A wonderfully scary and simultaneously hilarious blend of classic camp horror from the GODFATHERS of horror...Stephen King & George Romero. In this review, I am not going to do the requisite "re-cap of the 5 story lines", because if you haven't ever seen Creepshow, chances are...you have been living in a crate somewhere at the bottom of a set of stairs in Amberson Hall. THIS movie...you MUST own if only for the fantastic over-the-top performances by an All-Star cast who spout of memorable line after memorable line. VIVECA LINDFORS...WONDERFUL in the opening sequence, belts out drunkenly "Evvyting I wantet, he wantet for meee." LESLIE NIELSEN...STEALS THE WHOLE FILM. Every line delivered dead-on, in ... Ahhh...Creepshow. Plain and simply...You HAVE to have this one in your collection. "Your Maiden-fair is waiting for her Knight in shining Corduroy."...(singing) "I'm just wild about Harry" (as he buries TED DANSON up to his neck in the sand)...then who could forget Danson's reaction to the crab about to bite his nose while he can't shoo it away??? ADRIENNE BARBEAU...ALMOST (but not quite) takes "top notch" honors from Leslie, as she struts around in an over-tight, and under-sized top while verbally abusing HAL HOLBROOK all along the way. "Just Call me Billie...Henry, you are SUCH a little kid...Buying real estate in a college town is a friggin pain in the ass...Don't leave the pans on the stove...YES, BILLIE, YES BILLIE!! (priceless). STEPHEN KING...does his trademark "token appearance" as a hick-turned-crabgrass when he gets "METEOR S*%T" all over his hands. His reactions to BINGO O'MALLEY (and O'Malley's 5 minutes on screen) are AWESOME. As Jordy Verrill, King plays such a "Lunkhead"...and the way he plays it is a MUST SEE. E.G. MARSHALL---has the "money shot" of the film all to himself. For those who know the movie, you know what I am talking about...for those who don't, then you just have to wait until the end of the film. BUT...he also gives an amazingly "Ebeneezer Scrooge/Leona Helmsley"-esque performance, who REJOICES when an ex-associate "Goes OUT with a bang!", and then spends the episode yelling amazingly hilarious profanities at both cock-roaches and people alike. Toss in a young ED HARRIS, a cameo by TOM SAVINI (as a garbage man), and a sinister opening and closing "bookend-style" sequence that makes you just LOVE voodoo-dolls, and then watching the little kid almost SCREECH out his lines "NO--it wasn't like that, you sent me to get your cufflinks on SUNDAY!" Trust me...you HAVE to "be there" to get these references. You will not be disappointed. I saw this film when I was TWELVE, and at 38...i still LOVE it. This is a great film to "start out" a kid on who may be "getting into" horror films. More tongue-in-cheek than anything, and adults will like it just as much. You will be scared...but not in a "Rob Zombie" way. If you can't enjoy this movie, then you probably have no sense of humor...as it is "technically" a horror film...but done in such a perfect way, that it makes it FUN to watch a scary movie again. And you will laugh. It is a HOOT!
