The Color of War
This is a 5-disc dvd set of original color film shot during World War II. The discs cover everything from some of the major battles all the way down to what the soldiers wore for clothing and the weapons they fought with. Each disc is narrated and is also accompanied by letters that the soldiers and other personnel wrote home to tell their loved ones what it was like serving in the war. This dvd box set is different from most WWII documentaries in that it deals alot with the lesser known day-to-day happenings and gives a good insight as to the great lengths the soldiers and the government went to win the war. It also allows us to see the more human side to the soldiers. What they had to endure not only when they were fighting but also how they had to adapt to the various climates and ... I was really excited to get this set when I ordered it. I got it for a really good price too. When it came in, it didn't disappoint. I watch a lot of DVD's of WW2 footage and movies and was very excited to see it in color as all I'd had up until this was black and white footage. This series is awesome. The story line was great- very moving and tells the story well of what happened in those days. I highly recommend this set to anyone who wants to know the story of World War 2. DVD's are sharp bright really good fidelity also.
I have never seen such amazing footage,never mind in COLOR!!WOW! Very satisfied customer!My Dad was in the first wave of troops at Omaha Beach in Normandy.These DVD's have a special place for me,as he came home a pretty much broken man.Thunderstorms would find him under the bed screaming,it took hours to calm him down.That's what these DVD's mean to me.A way of understanding what happened to my Dad and the War's effect on men in general.I have never seen such amazing footage,never mind in COLOR!!WOW! The color of war, DVD 2005
Very happy with my purchase from this store. I will buy more titles as I fine the ones I want. I use them to freeze frame and use the freeze frames as sources for oil paintings of WWII in order to make statements about war, its uses as a national defense as an abomination to humanity as produced by the evil individuals who start unjust wars.
