À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Hot-tempered, self-centered, part-Irish Southern beauty Scarlett O'Hara, played to the teeth by Vivien Leigh, loves the gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard). Smug, rebellious, honest, blockade-running profiteer Rhett Butler, portrayed gracefully and naturally by Clark Gable, loves Scarlett. Ashley, who is also in love with Scarlett, marries his genteel cousin Melanie (Olivia de Havilland) because he believes that their quiet similarities will create a better marriage than Scarlett's passion. Meanwhile, sparks fly between Rhett and Scarlett at their first encounter and continue throughout Scarlett's first two marriages. Scarlett and Rhett finally wed, but Scarlett continues to pine for her beloved Ashley. Set against the Civil War and Southern Reconstruction, this tragic love quadrangle offers the burning of Atlanta and fields of wounded Confederates as part of its lush scenery. Meticulous backdrops, glorious sunsets, numerous silhouettes, and the ultrasaturated Technicolor film create a hyperreal vision. The romantic score is every bit as lush and dramatic as the photography, borrowing folk melodies from the Old South to make the tragic war concrete. Heavy nostalgic tones pervade the often witty dialogue and larger-than-life charms and faults of the leads. GONE WITH THE WIND stands among the greatest epic dramas ever filmed.

  • Best romantic movie, ever

GWTW has always been my most favorite romantic movie, and I thought it was about time I owned it!! This particular DVD set included two bonus discs. The first bonus disc was about the "making of the movie." It included how the author, Margaret Mitchell, came to write the book; how the producer of the movie, David O. Selznick, came to buying film rights to GWTW, about the "several" directors, and much, much more. ALL very interesting! The other disc was about the cast. I was especially thrilled to see actual footage of screen tests of the many popular actors of the day, vying for the roles of Scarlett, Rhett, Melanie, etc. Can you imagine Bette Davis or Joan Crawford playing Scarlett? Their screen tests proved Vivien Leigh was the right choice, in my ...

  • Greatest Movie Of All Time

What makes this movie the greatest? The plot, the characters, the director, the actors, the stunning sets, the music? It is all of these things and more. This movie is breathtaking! It is larger than life. And this latest release is the best by far. With color and sound both enhanced and restored, this four disc DVD version is the one to own. I have loved Gone With The Wind since I was a child and have seen it too many times to count. The character of Scarlett O'Hara has always fascinated me. The passion with which Vivien Leigh portrays her draws the audience into Scarlett's world. She is a childish vixen, spoiled and completely selfish. Oblivious to true love that will make her happy, she spends most of her life pining away for the "wooden-headed Mr. ...

  • Gone With The Wind DVD

I have been collecting GWTW for over 30 years. This edition or DVD of the movie not only has fantastic color it is one of the greatest love stories ever told. There is nothing that is not loved about the movie or the book, though the book has 2 more children in it than the movie...you must read the book and then watch the movie what a thrill for both. I would recommend both to any and all. I babysat for twin boys this summer and one day our cable went out. The twins are 8 years old and can you imagine twin boys sitting there for almost 4 hours glued to the television as they watched Gone With The Wind. Then they went into my collection room and started looking for all the pieces that were in the movie. What a fantastic day for all of us! Try it with your children you may be surprised ...

  • American Civil War Drama Classic.

Created 9 years after the Great Depression in color. 1930. Actors were household legends of the time. Extreme detail given to scripps and stage scenes. So realistic it's a must see. Drama and emotion at its best. If Rhett and Scarlet were alive today. Now only film has saved them.

  • gone with the wind

classic and good, two handfulls awards and if you average playtime/cost it's a bargain. Clark got beat out that year by an Englishman but you would expect something like that to happen to Rhett anyway. So it kept with the character of the movie. They did a hell of a job restoring that baby and it's really fun to watch. Not too happy with this OOP crap that's goin on. WTF this is a classic should allways be available. Not like they have to melt lead and do typesetting. If you can find it for the right price buyit. This really is silliness for anyone to comment on this movie at this point in time. I sure hope this is a hundred words.
