Often referred to as CIB, these volumes include comprehensive sample lessons and a CD-ROM that contains all the media necessary to complete the easy to follow exercises. The best part of this particular Classroom in a Book is the program that is covered. Prior knowledge and experience with Photoshop and Illustrator should be a prerequisite if attempting to master Adobe After Effects. Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional is a digital motion graphics and compositing program which is best described as "The Photoshop of Video". CS stands for Creative Suite and various packages are available for video production, print ... Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional is a digital motion graphics and compositing program which is best described as "The Photoshop of Video". CS stands for Creative Suite and various packages are available for video production, print work and web design. Published by Adobe Systems Incorporated the software includes many of the features that are familiar to Adobe programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. The main interface consists of several panels. Three of the most commonly used panels are the Project panel, the Composition panel, and the Timeline panel. The Project panel acts as a bin to import stills, video and audio footage items. Photoshop documents can be imported into After Effects while retaining their original layers. Footage items in the Project panel are used in the Timeline panel, where layer order and timing can be adjusted. Transitions, special effects and various filters are applied to the footage along the Timeline which can contain multiple video and audio tracks. The items visible at the current time marker and raw footage from the Projects panel are displayed in the Composition panel. Adobe After Effects integrates seamlessly with other Adobe software titles such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Encore, and Flash. An After Effects file is known as a Project or an AEP. The Project file contains pointers or references to the actual footage items resulting in a relatively small file size. Content in the Timeline is rendered for previewing or for exporting to various video file formats. Depending on the video and audio settings used during exporting, the quality of the final rendered product can be used for Broadcast. Much of the content on television and in the movies is created by Adobe After Effects. Like all Adobe Programs there are many extras to be found in After Effects. There is a flow chart, storyboard capabilities, text for credits and plug-in support. One excellent feature new to CS3 is the Multi-camera editing. Four clips of the same event shot at different angles were synchronized and edited on-the-fly with exciting results. Adobe After Effects Professional CS3 can be purchased in a stand alone version or as part of The Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection. There is also a smaller package called the Production Premium. This software is not cheap; however, After Effects and the rest of the Adobe catalog are well worth the price.

Great book! Easy to follow
The book started off with the simple easy steps of how to use the program. It then starts doing lessons on many different projects. The lessons have pictures which helps for beginners. It has keyboard shortcts for everything for both windows and mac. The lesson files that included are interesting and somewhat fun to do. I bought this book for my motion graphics class. It is a great book if you are wanting an overview of how to use Adobe After Effects.The book started off with the simple easy steps of how to use the program.
