    I was hesitant to get this desoldering gun because it runs on 100v and I wasnt sure if plugging it in to 120v would ruin it or not. I played it safe and got a 300w step down transformer from amazon for 40 bucks. I tested the gun out today and everything works perfectly. Wow, this gun really delivers on what promises. If you desolder stuff often you should probably have this gun in your tool kit. Great price, shipping was fast, A+ seller.

    Really happy i have the USA 120v version and the JDM 100v version. looked inside both of them & they are 100% identical down to every tiny smd part other than 2 resistors to regulate the motor speed on the circuit board. The US has 2 300ohm 3watt resistors JDM model has a single 10ohm 3watt resistor. you can remove the 10ohm and put in two 300ohm. if you don't the pump just runs a bit faster, resistance and inductance of the heater is the same/very close, motor is identical HTH others

    small follow up, the resistors are 1watt not 3watt. 3watt will be too large to physically fit.

    I’m extremely happy with my purchase. My item , a brand new Hakko fr-301 desoldering gun, was exactly as described. The Seller is in Japan and sent me a very nice Thank you message and informed me right away that my item had been shipped. I recieved it in record breaking time and I was so surprised! 4 days.       Many improvements over the 808.

      I was initially disappointed to learn I could no longer get repair parts for my trusty Hakko 808. I also had concerns about ordering from Japan, but to save a $100, I went for it, and was glad I did. The FR-301 came much faster than I anticipated, and although I could not make use of my old 808.tips, the new desoldering tool is a breeze to use. The many improvements include on/off switch, easy temperature setting and easier tip changing. It even comes in a blue and yellow color theme in support of a free Ukraine.

      Well worth it!

      Maybe you think you don’t need one of these. That’s where I was with it for a long time. Then, I found myself doing some vintage stereo re-caps, so I finally bought one. As YouTuber AH Fixit says: “Game Changer “. It works incredibly well, and what is even more important is that you are much less likely to damage pads and traces, because it works quick. There are some caveats. Only one tip is included. It is a 1 mm opening and will work for most stuff, but I find myself also needing a 1.3 mm at times. Extra tips are pricey but they should last pretty long The included stand is basically useless, you’ll have to get something else. All that said, I’m sorry that I didn’t take the plunge a long time ago. Would have saved me an incredible amount of time. Also, it frees up one hand so you ...

      Great Product

      Very good high quality desoldering tool. Was ordered on Friday and it arrived on Tuesday. .Only 4 days for FedEx from Japan to Arizona. Only factor to consider is the 100 VAC spec but that is not a problem as I can run it at 100 Volts. Don't know if 120 VAC would shorten the heating element life but I wouldn't take the chance. Wish Hakko would offer a tip assortment to add to the original purchase.

      Best tool you'll buy this year

      If you do any amount of desoldering you owe it to yourself to buy this tool. Don't waste your time and money on the cheaper chinese ones thinking you dont use it that much or that they will work just as well. THEY WON'T. I broke 3 of them before buying this Hakko and I am so very glad I did.. A quality tool made to be used. The best tool you'll buy this year.

      Quick, easy, affordable!

      Have used it once and it works AWESOME! Has not clogged on me -yet! Good that it does come with cleaning rods.. Excellent value.
