    Shel silverstein..unlike any author that we shall eveeknow..all his books are extraordinary...love this particular book...it really has a strong moral

    Best book to teach charity

    I bought this book for my grandchildren after owning my own copy for many years. It teaches selfless giving and my 8 and 11 year old grandsons loved it.

    All-time classic

    This book is one of those rare tales that works wonderfully for a bedtime read by mom or dad, or the child - but delivers a very sophisticated and adult life lesson about the price of taking too much without giving back. It's an allegory about resources of every kind - emotional or natural - and how they can so easily be depleted and never regained...

    Best lesson for life

    This book is a treasure for young and old. It gives a powerful life lesson of sharing and caring, and giving those you love all you can. I truly recommend it for children to help them to navigate how to live their life, and for me as an adult it is a reminder of both my childhood and how I choose to live my life.
