Since moving on from his early tenure as frontman of Genesis--with whom he paved the way for new levels of theatricality within progressive rock--Gabriel has been a bold and influential voice in music. His quirky music is infused with a political sensibility that shows through in such songs as "Biko," about South African activist Stephen Biko, as well as through his activities working with groups such as Amnesty International. He won a Grammy for his scoring of Martin Scorcese's THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST, and is the founder of Real World, Inc., dedicated to fostering interaction between technology and multi-ethnic art. This collection of videos is a boon to Gabriel's fans, featuring a selection of his notable, seminal music videos, including his breakthrough "Sledgehammer," which used stop-action animation to create a video, the likes of which had never been seen before. Other videos include "Big Time," "Shock the Monkey," "Solsbury Hill," and "Father Son."

Must have for the Peter Gabriel fan!
Peter Gabriel has award winning videos for a reason. While many artists let others create videos to accompany their music Peter Gabriel takes an active role brining the music video to an art form. Each video has an introduction much like a directors commentary so you can see the thought that went behind the production. Of course, lets not forget the great music! Even if there were no video the music tracks alone are worth the price of admission. All of Peter's hits are on this digitally remastered DVD and they sound great! For audio purists of course there is a 2 channel mix but what I really enjoyed was the 5.1 DTS mix of his music. Simply stunning! I would reccomend this to anyone who likes this genre of music and even those who don't but can appriciate an audio/visual treat. ... Peter Gabriel has award winning videos for a reason. The surround mixes are incredible! However the dts 96/24 tracks had very little volume and almost no LFE or output to the subwoofer, so the Dolby Digital has to be used; less than a third of the Bitrate the dts 96/24 typically puts out (only 448 Kbps versus 1.5 Mbps). I wonder if this was a bad press run. But it's still a great collection of music videos with a great 5.1 surround mix! Games Without Frontiers and Solsbury Hill are truly meant for surround sound!!The surround mixes are incredible!
