Good Solid Music Appreciation Text
This book is excellent in quality of construction. Build well with strong pages and a hardcover, the pages won't rip quite as easy as some other texts while you frantically turn the pages during the occasional open book test or last minute study session. A very informative book, in fact most music appreciation classes will only use a small section of the entire text. Some topics are jumped into fairly quickly and not explained especially thoroughly but rather students seem to rely more on memorization of terms and ideas. One of the annoying parts of this set was such that the CD set didn't always match up to the referenced music in the book. While the book might mention a particular piece number and CD number, the cd set wouldn't include that piece of music and neither would the ... This book is excellent in quality of construction. Great substitute for the 11th edition
Very few differences from the newest edition. Our college didnt require purchase of music which now comes on mp3/4 card but has the cds from this edition in their library. I was told and have verified that you can find the music played by almost any symp orch on youtube if youd rather access it from home. There is only a couple of extra examples added in the 11th edition which can easily be found. This book purchase saved me over $100Very few differences from the newest edition. Exactly what I needed!!
Needed this textbook for my college music appreciation class & my teacher said the 6 edition and up are the same. Found this one and it was what It needed.

Excellent Music TextBook
This book was required for my music appreciation class. It is a very well written and thorough music literature book. It explains the definitions of the concepts in detail. It also covers much of the history of classical music. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
