Product Information

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf--her wolf--is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again. Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human--or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

Reviews
"For years, Grace has been fascinated by the yellow-eyed wolf that saved her from its pack when she was a child. Sam, bitten by a wolf as a boy, is that wolf. Long obsessed with each other at a distance, they finally meet after a wolf hunt (inspired by the apparent death of a local teen) sends a wounded and temporarily human Sam into Grace's arms. Their young love is facilitated by Grace's hands-off parents Once upon a time, I would've leaped at the rare opportunity of curling up with Mom on the couch. But now, it sort of felt like too little, too late, Grace muses), but threatened by two linked crises: the fact that Sam will soon lose the ability to become human and the instability of a new lycanthrope. Stiefvater skillfully increases the tension throughout; her take on werewolves is interesting and original while her characters are refreshingly willing to use their brains to deal with the challenges they face." - Publisher's Weeky (starred review), Praise for Shiver : #1 New York Times Bestseller *"A lyrical tale of alienated werewolves and first love... • Shiver was an Excellent read!

My 13 year old daughter who would rather be on facebook than read, read the book. She was required to read for 1/2 hour in class once a week, so I got her this book because it looked interesting. I would walk in on her reading it during facebook time!!! When I pick her up at school she tells me about what is happening in the book! She has just finnished it and I ordered the next one, Linger. Way to go to the creative teacher who requires the students to read ANYTHING they want as long as it is appropriate!

  • Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

I loved this book!! It's a captivating love story about werewolves that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Maggie pulls you into the scene with her vivid descriptions. She uses a double perspective of the story. Some chapters are Grace's perspective and some are Sam's, so you will understand both characters. A must read for both the young and the old!! If you liked the Twilight series, you will love Shiver! This is not a tired repeat of anything you have read before, and will leave you wanting more!!

  • A pleasant romantic surprise.

As a sci-fi Young Adult reader it is not likely to find me with a book like Shiver in my hands. Yet as I read from the surprisingly likeable narrator of Grace, I was pleasantly left in consternation as to why I enjoyed this book so much. The storyline was grippingly at ease but at a steady pace, the switch between point of view allowed me to see the correlation between characters. I cannot even describe how well-written the imagery was. I too, began to shiver from the cold.It had been so long since I'd read a GOOD romance novel, I am glad I decided to pick up Stiefvater's Shiver.

  • Breathlessly awaiting the third book in this trilogy!

Stiefvater writes in a way that makes you see, hear, and smell her characters! Sam and Grace seem so real, sincere and uncontrived. A pleasant change from my fav vampire books. I also recommend Stiefvater's "Lament" and "Ballad", excursions into the world of Faerie. You will love it!

  • Great Book, easy reading...love it!

A friend recommended it and it was an easy read. I love hte different point of views. The Twilight series probably inspired some of it. I love the love stories in general.
