Reviews
Carl R. Rogers One of the outstanding contributions to psychological thought in the last fifty years., "Unconditional faith in an unconditional meaning is Dr. Frankl's message to the reader."--The American Journal of Psychiatry, Gerald F. Kreyche De Paul University Man's Search for Meaning is the story of a man who became a number who became a person. Today Frankl is one of the most famous and gifted of all psychiatrists. Frankl developed his ideas now generally known as the Third School of Viennese Psychiatry -- the school of logotherapy. The incredible attempts to dehumanize man at the concentration camps of Auschwitz and Dachau led Frankl to commence the humanization of psychiatry through logotherapy. Frankl is a professional who possesses the rare ability to write in a layman's language., Gordon W. Allport from the Preface A compelling introduction to the most significant psychological movement of our day.

  • Excellent perspective on psychology

this book has a compelling story and a lot of wonderful thoughts. From the perspective of a christian, it was one of the most useful and resonating perspectives on human psychology that I have ever read. I bought this book because it was mentioned in Stephan Covey's 7HHEP, and other books I have read this year. I am so glad I read it and I immediately gifted it to a fellow christian after finishing it. Very good read!

  • A Profound Book on the Meaning of Life

We have no idea how blessed we are to live today. In the era of Safe Spaces and such garbage, this book lays out what REAL hardship and death is like. It is profoundly changing my life in a good way, making me more grateful than ever! We are BLESSED!!! It also reminds me that our ATTITUDE towards life and people CAN be changed in a positive way. Great read, although not easy to "experience" the atrocities that those poor people had to endure - but it's worth plodding through to get the essence of what the man is saying. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

  • 1 of the Inspiring and thoughtful books ever written

We all search for meaning in our lives, it's a built in human feeling that we all have no matter our background, religion or social status. Unfortunately in our modern world, because of its fast pace and stress on "making it" we tend to forget or are just "too busy" to think what really counts in our lives. The author, a Psychiatrist (and at first a colleague of Freud) and a Shoa survivor was able during his time in a concentration camp able to observe how people reacted in a most deprived physical surrounding. WHo were the people most likely to survive, and who died with meaning. He found out the answer and this book was a result of his discovery. It's not easy reading, you have to really THINK when you read this book. It may change your life and ...

  • Next to the Holy Scriptures, this is the best inspirational book ever!

I purchased this book upon recommendation from my psychology professor as being an excellent book for clients with all forms of depression--including severely depressed clients. The book is like a cool glass of ice water, soothing the mind and soul and bringing inspiration for life. By finding our purpose in life, and pursuing that purpose, we can each survive even the worst trials, if we just choose to continue in our journey. Frankl describes how he did just that, choosing to survive and inspire others, even at the point of near death starvation, giving hope and encouragement to fellow Nazi death camp prisoners when he did not even know if he would survive another day. This was my third purchase of the book as I have given my other copies to others who needed encouragement and hope. ...

  • Great book, should read as part of search for meaning

Look up "statue of responsibility". It represents the author's view on what makes life meaningful.
