Gods of Egypt Blu-ray/DVD, 2016, 3-Disc Set, 3D
Gods of Eqypt is a fast moving, beautiful, fun, fantasy adventure set in a mythical place full of mythical gods and mortals. If that's your cup of tea, you'll enjoy it. What did surprise me was the wit in the script and images of the movie. The obvious riffs to Harryhausen, early Bond, Transformers, Indiana Jones, comic-book-heroes-in-a-snit, and who knows what else, will either amuse or annoy you depending on your tastes and how pedantically seriously you take your fantasies. I found it all very amusing. The master builder and Thoth provided snarky reposts as needed and were a nice balance to the physical derring do all around them. The dialogue is peppered with sardonic lines, ironic lines, and just plain funny one liners, and when Set and Thoth achieve a 'meeting of ... I found it enormous fun all the way around. All in all, it was a good time at the movies. It doesn't pretend to be anything but entertainment and is very good at that. If old style adventure movies are your guilty pleasure, you won't be disappointed.

Great combination Of high tech and ancient mythology
I was stunned by the special effects which really brought the ancient mythology alive as never before. The story line was engaging and at times very humorous. I really enjoyed watching it in 3-d which was well executed, and not distracting. All in all a very entertaining movie.

great 3d and action flix
the 3d quality is excellent it uses some in your face theatrics, and some larger than screen to really fill how huge the statues and buildings might have been. But the sound was all around and the sub woofer gave the feeling of movement. The movie story is revenge and regret. Sometime the acting is so over the top that it seems cheesy in parts. But the movie does move along and the characters add some humor to this action adventure. the 3d quality is excellent it uses some in your face theatrics, and some larger than screen to really fill how huge the statues and buildings might have been. But the sound was all around and the sub woofer gave the feeling of movement. The movie story is revenge and regret. Sometime the acting is so over the top that it seems cheesy in parts. Fair story- nice CG.
Enjoyable enough one-off tale with very good CG work/3D presentation. IMO, that saves this movie from a "meh- never mind". Good enough popcorn movie to share with the family- lots of visual spectacle and some nicely done snaky-monsters add some pizazz, and if you don't expect too much, this will easily take care of a couple of hours with the kids. Nothing wrong with a simple, flashy, adventure tale, even if it's not a particularly great one. Enjoyable enough one-off tale with very good CG work/3D presentation. IMO, that saves this movie from a "meh- never mind". Good enough popcorn movie to share with the family- lots of visual spectacle and some nicely done snaky-monsters add some pizazz, and if you don't expect too much, this will easily take care of a couple of hours with the kids.
