Review of "A.C. Dolls by Judith Izen 2004"
My single favorite doll as the only girl with 4 brothers was my Tiny Tears doll. I had purchased 6 or more T.T.dolls from ebay before buying this book. I do wish that I had bought the book FIRST! It does supply a lot of "eye candy" for the avid collector of the Tiny Tears doll...the other dolls made by A.C. are reviewed as well, but those have little interest to me and I'm not aware most of those existed after the production of the Tiny tears. American Character Dolls by Judith Izen (2004)
I was very anxious to receive this book, but was disappointed after receiving it and reading through it. It was not very comprehensive at all and seemed mainly comprised of excerpts from other publications. There was not a lot of detail on the dolls of the early years of the company, and actual pictures of early dolls were scarce. Many dolls were only listed by name without any valuable information or pictures. It can't be that hard to come by actual pictures of some of their earlier composition dolls instead of using grainy ictures from trade magazines of the time. I myself own some of the compo dolls that were listed but not photographed, so I would think that in writing and researching a book on the subject, an author could find enough information to write a more thorough book.I was very anxious to receive this book, but was disappointed after receiving it and reading through it. Great Book for doll collector's
WOW!! This book is great...it has so much in it...really good for research on the dolls made by this company...the pictures are great as well...wish they had more pictures of some of the clothes made for different dolls, but they do have some pictures of some clothes...I collect dolls and have some of their dolls and will use to see what else they made for those dolls...This book is good for anyone who wants or has some of these dolls from this company!! Add this book to your collection!!WOW!!
