  • Still a Good Read

I have read all 20 something books of this author and obviously enjoy his writings. Like many other readers, I particularly enjoy the Stone Barrington series. It is fascinating how he builds upon characters and relationships from his many preceeding works that creates a certain intricacy and intimacy with the reader. Reading his books is like reminiscing with a good old friend; something to be savored. I like to think of his writings as desert, something sweet and frothy that can be devoured quickly and enjoyably. That being said, I also think his novels are becoming less dense and imaginative as compared to his earlier works. I get the feeling that like many great artists, Woods may be running out of steam. Nonetheless, this work remains desert, only less filling.

  • Dark Harbor

Another Stone Barrington book, but this one dose not live up to other great titles by this company. Stone is at Elaine's with his friend, NYPD Lieutenant Dino Bacchetti when another friend, CIA mystery man Lance Cabot shows up with his protege Holly Barker (one of Stone's lovers) shows up. Snappy dialog ensues as Cabot asks Stone Barrington what he knows about Richard Stone. More snappy dialog ensues as Stone Barrington explains that Richard Stone is a first-cousin with whom he has had little contact over the years. That limits the sadness around the table when Cabot tells Barrington that his cousin and his family are dead in an apparent murder/sucide. (By the way, I intend "snappy dialog" as a compliment. Woods really does have a knack for crisp, insouciant dialog that is very ...

  • Fun Again

Another Woods "Easy Read". Woods readers will enjoy. Stone's cousin dies(is murdered?) & leaves Sone another house, this one in Dark Harbor, Maine. Did his CIA job or greedy brother or??? kill him? Needless to sy, Stone, Holly, Dino, & Lance will discover the truth. Holly has a little trouble, & as only she can, handles it herself. It is a quick & easy read, in the Woods style.

  • Dark Harbor

I enjoy reading suspense novels. I first read the little synopsis on the back of a magazine advertising a mystery book club and I like the review of the story. After purchasing the book, I can say I liked the font style because it made for easy reading for me. I would read other novels written by Stuart Woods because I do tend to read mystery novels. The story keeps moving and although I have not yet finished the book yet there has been a lot of unespected turns which has held my interest. I would recommend this book to anyone to like complex thrillers.

  • WOODS WINS AGAIN

Stuart Woods is a genius at making us fall in love with his characters. Stone Barrington is one hot commodity. I also really enjoyed the more in depth look at Dino, Stone's best friend. Woods integrated his Holly Barker character... this is also a very smart move to interest you in the series he writes about her. I thoroughly enjoyed this read, but I always love anything by this great author!
