Easy to use, inexpensive alternative to pricier MP3s
The main thing I love about the SanDisk is the price. For about $30 each, we bought each of our kids the 512mB versions, and for about $50 each my husband and I each got the 1GB versions. This is an easy to use MP3 player. My 12 year old has no problem sync-ing his music from the online Rhapsody service, and my chronically, directionally challenged husband can download audio books to his all day long with minimal help from me. The controls are relatively small, especially for the volume and menu functions, so large fingers may have a little bit of a challenge to get them working, but the play/pause, forward/reverse are good-sized for the small machine. It takes only one AAA battery to run and lasts for many hours. We can listen to a couple full unabridged audiobooks (12+ hours) before ... The main thing I love about the SanDisk is the price. The capacity is also amazing for the size and price, with the larger one and a compressed format, we can fit 8-10 complete unabridged books on ours, or over 120 songs, which is plenty for the average user! It comes with earbuds which my kids and husband like, but didn't suit my ears too well, so I picked up a more comfortable pair of earphones that rest outside my ears. It also comes with a clear plastic cover which can help to prevent scratches, etc, and can also attach to a wide elastic arm band (included) for use during exercise or other hands-free activity. The downsides: I wish the backlit screen stayed lit for more than a few seconds, sometimes the titles/information is kind of hard to read without the backlighting; it would be nice to have more control over the organization of titles once they are in the player there is no way to rearrange the order of songs, besides a "random" play mode, and scrolling through a list of even a hundred songs gets a little obnoxious. Another problem I have experienced is the requirement to continuously "sync" your player to the playlists on Rhapsody. This may just be a glitch with my player and/or the service, but my player makes me sync to my playlist online MUCH more often than my son's does and it is really annoying to have to sync it after playing songs for only a day or two. With the claim to be "plays for sure" I should only have to sync as often as my subscription renews, which is monthly. And I almost forgot, it has an FM tuner for radio listening and a voice recorder (which feature I have never used, but it is available!). Overall this is a great piece of equipment and a fabulous way to get into the MP3 music/audio arena at a truly reasonable price.

Great MP3 player
As my review title states, this is a great MP3 player. For the price you honestly don't expect much but I've had mine for over a year and it's still going. I find that 512 is enough storage space for me, it fits over 100 songs, I usually change the music on it every week, but it is enough spave for general use. I found the equalizer settings build into it to be pretty good and I also liked the ability to set custom equalizer settings, something not expected in a model at this price. My girlfriend also owns one and she found the microphone on it to be very handy, you can record reminders right onto your MP3 player rather than buying a voice recorder for another 30-100 dollars. Out of all the features this MP3 player has I would say that the thing that really sold it ... As my review title states, this is a great MP3 player. You can use an external program though if you want to create playlists but I always found the drag and drop feature to be quite nice. It also uses the same USB cable as most digital cameras which is also a really nice feature if you ever lose the cable or want a longer one. I think pretty much the only drawback of this device is the AAA battery, I wish it was just a little bigger so it would take a AA battery and last longer, but nothing is perfect and this little device comes pretty close to it in the 512 MB class.

Great Experience with First Sandisk MP3 Player
I decided to buy first MP3 player after finding out how reasonably priced the non-Apple brand players are now. I saw that Circuity City had these on sale for $64.99, so I went to Best Buy (Because I had gift cards from Christmas) and had Best Buy Price Match Circuit City. This was nice because they match the price plus 10% of the difference. My purchase price ended up being around $59 before tax. Although there are some great deals on eBay for the same thing. I just thought I would share with you the price I paid so you can compare prices for it wherever you decide to purchase it. Now onto the Pros and Cons of the unit... Pros- Small and compact Voice Recorder built in. Flash Memory instead of Hard Drive. Better for Running with. 512mb ideal for fast and simple transfers. ... I didn't want a huge amount of memory just for a 2 hour workout. Comes with the armband, headphones, USB cable AND one AAA battery to start you out with. Acutally can play FM stations, unlike a lot of the other brands out there. Very nice for picking up the TV stations at the Gym. Sandisk website has Firmware updates which are easy to install and update your player. Do this first when you buy one as it deletes all your stuff in the process. Backlit, Equalizer, Shuffle, etc. are also nice little features. Cons- Small buttons sometimes hard for large fingers. FM receiver a little weak indoors. Wearing this unit with the supplied armband is a little bulky because of it's shape is like a lipstick container. Unlike some of the more flat models out there. Menu takes a little getting used to, but has optional features that make it more simplified if needed. (ie. advanced menu & smart menu on/off) All in all, I really can't think of many things that are terribly wrong with this MP3 player. It is doing well for me and I am planning on grabbing another one for my wife before the sale ends. I was stuck between this model and the e130 model with the expandable Sandisk SD slot, but I like this one for it's voice recording and compact size. I like Sandisk's customer support 800 number. They were really helpful on a couple of features that I was trying to figure out. If I can offer one bit of advice about purchasing MP3 players, don't buy more memory than you absolutely need. The transfer times for some of these 30GB players is insane from the people I talk to. Figure out when and how long you will listen to it at a time and go from there. I like being able to quickly change all of the tracks. I actually use the MusicMatch Program for Windows XP, and it works very well with this unit. Anyway, thanks for reading, and enjoy whatever unit you decide to buy.

A good product for the money.....
This MP3 player doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but I didn't expect any, either. It downloads music from services such as Walmart and Napster. Mine holds about 70 - 80 songs...but that's a fair amount...definitely enough for a few days or even a road trip. When I'm tired of them I can always swap them out. It's not that heavy and I can easily strap it on my arm. Three things that may bug the person who wants the "perfect" MP3 player are (1) the battery is a AAA, so you may want to invest in rechargeable batteries, (2) when searching for music, the screen only has room to show 3 or 4 songs at a time, and (3) the storage is only about 512 MB so don't even think about putting a library of songs on it. It's a MP3 player. Plays MP3, WMA and audible audio file formats. It's a Digital FM tuner with up to 20 presets. It's a voice recorder. It's a photo and video playback machine. For me, this provides superior sound playback than most that I have heard. Transfer of music files is very swift with the supplied Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port which is also backward compatible with USB 1.1 ports I think the sleek thin style and design easily rivals the Ipod. It has a more than adequate 1.8" TFT color screen. The backlit controls aid fast interface and navigation. I am not a patient man but even I found the navigational features and interface easy to use. I am neither a gentle careful man. I have dropped, bashed, scraped and generally unintentionaly abused this item but ... It's a MP3 player. Plays MP3, WMA and audible audio file formats. The microSD card slot for content portability and additional capacity is also very useful although as of yet I have had no reason to use this feature. At only 2.7oz in weight makes it very light and portable, you will hardly know you are carrying it, that's got to be music to your ears. The only drawback I have is that the minimum system requirement is Windows XP operating system, I'm ok with that but other members of my family are using Pre-XP, never mind, Se'la ve'.
