    Lightweight with great features and a lot of missed potential

    Very enlightening story about the Korean experience in Japan. A must read if you are interested on Korean and Japanese history. The only flaw is the time line, sometimes the author goes ahead into the future and we misses the oportunity to draw the evolution of the characters. As a reader you are left to fill the blanks. Overall, I would give it a B - but I will still recomend you to read it.

    Very Informative (and Extensively Researched) Scholarly Presentation

    This literary work was a very scholarly and well researched piece. It was an embodiment of the author's own life experiences . It also enveloped and developed a view point of relations between a conquered colonial society and those who dominated and conquered the aforementioned group. The piece was a difficult read because it forced a self reflection. At times in this life, I guess I was born to suffer from different types of challenges. With time, we shall all see!

    Very Well Written

    I don't normally read this type of literature as I more of an alphabet (CIA, FBI, EMP, etc.) kind of guy but with my wife being Korean, I thought that I would give it a try. The book is very well written and I pick it up to read as soon as I get home from work.

    Awesome, what more can I say.

    English is not my first language but it wasn't difficult to read. Once I opened the cover, I couldn't put this book down till I finished it. What a sad but heart-touching story it was.

    It was an excellent book if you favor reading Historical fiction, which I do.

    What I liked best about the story was the depiction of the Korean/Japanese situation both during and post WW11. It was very educational. What I didn't like about the story was their were so many deaths portrayed.
