The 50th Disney Animated Classic...
The Princess and the Frog is definitely worth your time! The journey that the two main protagonists, Tiana and Prince Naveen, go through is one that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The emotion, action, music, character development, and animation all flow really well together. The adaptation of the Brothers-Grimm fairy tale is reminiscent and nostalgic to that of the style of other notable Disney animated classics such as, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast. The return to 2D, hand-drawn animation for this film is done with justice and is sure please both long time avid fans and the newer generation as well.The Princess and the Frog is definitely worth your time! Best Disney Movie Since Little Mermaid
I have to tell you how I came about this awesome movie. I had it in my Netflix Instant Play Queue to show my daughter. I don't know why I had low expectations for this film, but I did. I am from New Orleans, which is the setting for this movie, and it's filled with incredible jazz music, so I should have been more positive. As soon as this beautiful movie started, it was hooked. Fantastic voice over cast, great songs and very funny. My whole family loves it. You will be rolling when you watch any scene with Ray (lightning bug) and Louis (alligator)! I knew I had to own this own Blu-Ray. I also bought the soundtrack on iTunes. If your kid isn't dancing around during some of the film's catchy musical numbers, I'd be surprised. The ONLY negative I have for the film (and it's not really a negative for the movie...it has more to do with my daughter's age) is that the bad guy is this voodoo dude that sometimes my three year old finds a bit scary, so I fast forward through his scenes. But that said, given her age, I would have to FWD thru all the Disney baddies until she's a bit older. Try watching the opening scene of Bambi...her whole family DIES! YIKES!! If you haven't seen this movie, please do you self a favor and check it out. It is a traditional hand animated movie, like Mermaid, Lion King and Aladdin. The CGI films are great too, but I love the look of these hand-drawn cartoons. And it looks like this could be the last of its kind. Let's hope not. So, in the grand tradition of classic Disney, The Princess and the Frog gets a perfect review from Daddy.

Decent Disney film has better extras than Oscar winning films
OK, the packaging for the film advertises "From the Directors of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin". We all remember those 2 films, huge hits, Oscar winning music, memorable characters & scenes. So, when you see that you expect Princess & the Frog would be the same right? Nope. It is a decent film. Did decent box office. But can we remember any characters, scenes or the music? No. Did it win any Oscars for anything? No. Good animation. As I input this review after purchasing this set July of 2012 Disney just released 1995's Oscar winning hit "Pocahontas" . That Oscar winning film & the sequel did NOT have as good of extras as this film has on this blu ray/DVD package. There is a Making of for this film & several other extras. A film worthy of a being an instant classic!
After Disney stopped making traditional 2-D animated films, I thought that was pretty much it for this genre. Then about 4-5 years ago, this film was announced to return to that genre nearly forgotten. Many of us were probably skeptic at first considering how previous failures such as Atlantis and Treasure Planet left 2-D animated films in the dust. I wanted to see this movie when it was first released in theaters. I did not get that chance. Now, a year and a half later, I finally get my chance to see it. Since it even says on its cover that it's the best Disney movie since The Lion King, that enticed me more to it. All I can say is: it did not dissapoint. A beautiful, heartwarming masterpiece that could very well revitalize interest in the traditional animation field, The Princess and the ... NOT NEW
It said new in the title so I thought this was going to be unopened, so when I got it I was confused, and then I took out the slip cover and there were brown sticky parts on the inside as well as sticky stuff on the cover. Well the original price for this new is $30 so i guess I got what I paid for, the actual discs seem fine, I guess this deal was too good to be true...
