I had spare ram to add since it came with 4GB and it's not really enough for a modern OS. I'm not sure if I'll use it for a headless linux or general desktop, but the processor is somehow supported by Win 11. This cpu and computer with the wifi and hard drive tray was very competitively priced. That plus a psu for $50 beats the price of a raspberry pi with more compute power.

Best Sata II hard drive available besides the Western Digital Blacks. But research TLER and how it may effect windows programs. Pros: Good for movies, music, internet, older games should not have a problem with the TLER (non 64bit OS games should play great). Cons: TLER on this hard drive is good for a server system, but when using this hard drive as a primary for Windows OS it may crash heavy programs and recover to desktop within 5 seconds, Tomb Raider 2013 crashed 3 times during a full playthrough, some heavy video or graphical programs will be effected by the TLER too. This hard drive is not recommended for HD Gaming or video editing enthusiasts (you may still get these applications to work but not with perfect performance). This hard drive is great for a primary SATA II system ... Best Sata II hard drive available besides the Western Digital Blacks. But research TLER and how it may effect windows programs. Good storage drives not recommended for when you need high speed reads.
Not sure how to review a hard drive I just received in regards to how reliable it will be but we will give it a shot. Had an older mechanical drive showing SMART errors meaning the drive was dying. Ordered this as a replacement for two drives and went with WD black because they are generally not super fast drives but very durable and reliable. As most hard drives last about three years or more it will be some time before I can speak of the longevity of the unit. It makes little chatter noises when in use which are barely audible but can definitely hear in a very quiet room. Seems as speedy as the old Seagate drives were but as expected nowhere near as fast as my SSD drives.Not sure how to review a hard drive I just received in regards to how reliable it will be but we will give it a shot. Best SATA-2 HDD on the Market (if you get a good one)
With a massive 64MB cache, the WD RE4 is a fantastic performer. I have three of these, one which has seen action in 6 different PC's. Still going strong today, there's a reason why these shipped with a 5 year warranty. In reality, these WD RE4's are upscale (or upgraded) Caviar Blacks, has 2x the cache, and runs quieter also. This is because the RE4 isn't a consumer oriented HDD, there's businesses with multiple of these drives installed, so has to be quiet & fast. Check the specs closely so that you don't get a WD RE4-GP, a 'power saving' drive that's not the same, though a simple trick booting into the freely available Ultimate Boot CD to disable parking (under HDD's, go to WDIDLE & when loaded, type wdidle3 /d) can make these two models the same, as well as disable parking of any other ... I'm including this information to inform consumers to check specs & be aware of features that can extend drive life. Disabling parking can in reality, double a drive's lifespan, regardless of number of hours used. That's the trick used by many, and in some cases, one can get a HDD with over 50,000 hours of use, and less than 200 start/stop cycles. Consumer can benefit from the same trick, though will have more start/stop cycles by default when computer is shutdown or rebooted. The WD RE4 is a true workhorse of a HDD, it's as simple as that. Even post retirement, makes excellent backup drives using a docking station or enclosure constructed of metal, the heavier, the better & avoid plastic models, though it's OK for the end caps to be. A fan is a plus, though if not ran 24/7, not a necessity. Check the seller's feedback before purchase, chances are that the best sellers will give a great deal on these drives, some of which are still covered by WD's warranty. As long as the drive is good, everyone's a winner!;-) Cat

Another great product at a reasonable price!
Another component I purchased to repair our old Hp p2-1343w deskto PC and so far I has been functioning better than I expected for the low cost. Easily was able to install Windows 8 on it, and the size is just fantastic for all that I do with it. If you need or want to upgrade your system with a 1 TB HDD, and have a tight budget, than I would recommend this device for you.

Disk for the job.
Disk is quiet..If I had more money, I'd get more. If it WERE noisier I would not care. I, personally, LIKE to hear the faint clicks. To KNOW when my hard drive is working or accessed. (I build computers)
