Product Information

After an outbreak of UFO sightings and alien abductions, panic spread like wildfire across the globe. What exactly was happening? Have aliens come to take over Earth? Realizing the need to address the situation, delegates from the world's superpowers gathered in Geneva to decide on a plan of action. An agreement was reached to form a secret group to investigate this potential alien threat, and if necessary, use deadly force to stop them. This covert organization would be called the Extraterrestrial Combat unit (X-COM for short), composed of the most talented pilots, troops, scientists and engineers the world had to offer. X-COM: UFO Defense is based on the 1994 PC game originally developed by Mythos Games Ltd. The player assumes control of the X-COM task force, building bases and tracking various UFOs on a 3D map of Earth. Once a UFO is spotted (represented by a red cross), you must try to intercept it so that it crashes over dry land. You'll then need to send your heavily armed squad to the site, where you'll witness the downed craft and surrounding terrain from an isometric perspective. Moving your troops is accomplished through a point-and-click interface with each side alternating turns. Your three goals are to (1) engage the aliens face to face, (2) either stun or kill them, and (3) retrieve whatever technology or weapons you find so your scientists can replicate them. After all, you have to fight fire with fire! The PlayStation version supports both the mouse and memory card, with the latter allowing you to save the game at any point (as long as you have five blocks free).

If you've never played this game and enjoy turned based action/strategy games, then this is the one for you. This is one of my all time favorite games to this day. The premise of the game is simple. You are in charge of taking care of alien invaders. You start by forming a base of operations. The Earth is visible as you are able to rotate and spin to find the place where you would like to set up camp. Your base has a basic radar system in place that helps track UFOs in your immediate area. When an alien vessle is detected, you must launch an attack ship, or wait for the alien craft to land. Once the alien craft has landed, you send a military team to investigate. You will need 2 save slots, one for the exterior map, and one for the battles. If you are not careful, you can lose your ... X-Com UFO Rules!
Such a classic turn-based game. Can be very difficult and challenging, but addicting. Stop the alien invasion, study their technology and build your own alien based weapons. Upgrade your Characters and hunt down the Alien Scum!!

One of the Epics
I have played a ton of games in the time that i have been alive, ranging from the FF series to the God of War series. There a lot of great games out there, but there are only a rare few epic titles some of which have flown right under the radar. X-Com is one of those games. I can't mention one bad thing about it, some would say the graphics are too old school but i honestly believe otherwise. I love today's flashy graphics as much as the next gamer, but i think this games graphics hold substance. but other than the debatable graphics, the rest of the game is flawless. i can't give this game enough praise, i could try but i would not be successful.I have played a ton of games in the time that i have been alive, ranging from the FF series to the God of War series. Sleeper tactical that outshines predecessors
Final Fantasy Tactics was an outstanding game that helped launch tactics/strategy games of its sort into the main stream. Before that game graced our playstations though, a sleeper hit in the same genre slid under most gamers radar. That game was X-com: UFO Defense. This port title of the PC game stands apart from other tactics games still due to its mixture of strategy and turn-based tactical battles. To be successful, players need to build on to their base, research new technologies, manage troops and supplies and generate income.
