THE KIRBY G5D CARPET SHAMPOO CLEANING SYSTEM
I own another KIRBY G5 Vacuum Cleaner and it picks up dirt out of a thick carpet unlike any other machine previously used. We use it exclusively. But now that I just got the KIRBY G5D Vacuum Cleaner and Carpet Shampoo Cleaning Care System, it just enhances the cleanliness of where we live to a greater superlative degree. I have quick access to either the straight vacuum cleaner or the carpet shampoo care system cleaner without having to switch components from one operation to the other on a single Kirby Machine like before. Worlds best and long lasting vacuum.
Best vacuum ever made...heavy so would not want to try to use on stairs but with the power drive it is the best carpet vacuum ever. It is so strong it lifts the carpet a little from the pad so it really deep cleans. I have 2 of them one for my house and the other for my cattery. Do not waste my money on any other brand and buying it on eBay is affordable for sure.

My G-5 &G-4 performed identical to the brand new model!
What I love about the Kirby is it is an outstanding vacuum. It is built from high quality materials and is engineered to pick up the dirt using high airflow and low vacuum as opposed to most vacuums which promote 'clean air'. Those vacuums use high vacuum and low airflow. Ultimately it is airflow that will clean a carpet. The folks at Kirby know this and have stood by a tried and true design when other companies, even the biggest, have experimented with other designs. That good old high airflow works the best overall in my oppinion because those other, bigger companies still utilize this design on their vacuums. One, inparticular actually went back to the airflow design for their flagship model after being acredited for pioneering the clean air design, on that very model. What this tells ... What I love about the Kirby is it is an outstanding vacuum. It is built from high quality materials and is engineered to pick up the dirt using high airflow and low vacuum as opposed to most vacuums which promote 'clean air'. My G-4 and G-5 picked up the same if not more dirt in one of those recent promotions for the latest model. I'm proud of my two Kirby's for performing so well. I maintain them myself because they are so easy to work on.I clean carpets for a living and can testify to the wonderful capabilities of the Kirby shampoo set-up. I always tell my customers sure, let me professionally steam clean it once and you can easily maintain it for life with your Kirby's shampoo set-up,it's actually gentler on the fibers. Nothing beats that shine of a carpet cleaned with a Kirby.

Kirby Vacuum - exceptional performance
Since our 'old' vacuum was no longer working well, I set about searching on eBay for a replacement. Checked many web sites for reviews on brands and models. Decided to look for a Kirby upright. Won this particular one for two reasons - it was offered for local pick up and so saved hefty shipping charges. Secondly, the model had superb reviews. I was not disappointed. Though not the most modern Kirby, the G5 (with attachments too) outshone any carpet cleaner we've ever owned (and we've owned MANY). The pros: truly glides (helpful for seniors), deep cleans, TALL handle (don't have to bend over if you are tall), and the extra long cord is a bonus for large areas. Have not tried all the attachments (can be confusing without a manual), but the stair hose cleaner is ... The only CON for the G5 Kirby is that it is very heavy, so hoisting it upstairs is almost out of the question. Overall, if you have always wanted a Kirby, but paying $1000+ turns you off (as it did us), check eBay for a real deal! RESEARCH the various models as some include features you may not ever use, and then again, you may want one with all the bells and whistles. Works on all surfaces (that I've tried) including outdoor carpet, thick plush and even tile floors. The height settings are easy to use and even let you know when you are properly adjusted for the surface you wish to clean. Definitely recommend.

Kirby Generation Series are the Ferrari's of Home Care!
I have owned many different models of Kirby's in the past and sold only to friends and family. From Traditions, to Legend II's, to G4's. The G5 was my first new Kirby and to this day hasn't degraded in performance one bit! Since it was sold to me new in the box in 1998 I have always had the pleasure of knowing my house is clean as a whistle. The simple yet powerful design of the Kirby power plant is what makes this vacuum so great at what it does. It has a 7amp motor with Tech Drive selectable power assist to help get the machine across even the thickest of carpets! Even the vibration of the brush visibly shakes dirt particles loose from carpet fibers and right into the bag. The brush in the nozzle can be disabled with a simple twist of the belt lifter handle and it becomes a straight ... Remove the lock and the nozzle comes right off to allow other attachments to be used such as the hose, the shampoo system, or the carpet fluffer and hard floor buffer. The shampoo system is the key to keeping the house and carpet smelling fresh and looking new. It takes less than a minute to swap attachments to the shampoo system. WIth the dry foam, it takes very little time to dry. Vacuum all the dry carpet one more time and give it a good fluff with the carpet fluffer and you will have one brand new looking carpeted floor! Needless to say, the 2 speed motor kicks in to high power for hose attachments with enough power to suck in a large pillow! The zip brush is by far my favorite attachment as the inner brush rotates to scrub upholstery all with the power of airflow from the power plant! The kirby can also be used as a blower with the air intake guard attached to the front and the hose to the air outlet of the power plant. I use this for the portable water sprayer/shampooer gun and to assist in drying the freshly shampooed carpet! Of course I recommend aiming the hose out a window for about 30 seconds to clear out any dirt from cleaning. The ease of use of the Kirby is top notch. While I have read reviews with complaints about switching to the canister hose or any other attachment, I feel it is just laziness as I can switch back and forth in seconds and just keep on with cleaning. It's just 1,2,3 done! No need for on board attachments as that just makes vacuums bulky, especially when they fall off during cleaning. The accessory caddy holds everything with easy access, is light weight, and is wall mountable! The portable handle is great when using the hose attachment as I can carry it around with one hand and easy maneuverability around the house and no need to tug the kirby around. Also using the portable hand and power brush nozzle to clean my mattress of dead skin and dust is very important as I am sensitive to such things with allergies. The Tech Drive feature is smooth and easily controlled depending on how hard or soft you push and pull the kirby. The Micron Magic filtration, although unproved using the newer HEPA paper and cloth disposable bags, my sensitive allergies don't give in with the normal Micron Magic bags that debuted with the G4. So unless there is serious illness in the family from dust, save money buy using the normal non-HEPA filter bags. Also I have read complaints of bag/belt availability in local areas. One bag lasts for months depending on use. Just get them from eBay in good time and stock up with at least 2 belts sold on eBay for low cost. The Kirby G5 awesome!
