In Prey, players take the role of a disgruntled indigenous native named Tommy, searching the ship for a way out while blasting slimy space monsters and other vile creatures. Based on Cherokee mythology, the game centers on Tommy, his spiritual powers gained from an unknown birthright, and the nifty things he can do with them such as the "Spirit Walk" and "Death Walk." <br><br>Portal technology used in the game allow enemies to appear out of nowhere, while Tommy's spiritual awakening will have him walking on walls and leaving his body by doing the "Spirit Walk." The living ship will attack Tommy any chance it gets, but a friendly guide in the form of a hawk can help guide him through the ship and decipher the alien language when needed.

1st Person Shooter With An Unique Spin
Prey has a lot to like and a some not to like. Here's where I begin - the graphics in Prey are very good for its release date, the gameplay in Prey is interesting and challenging for a 1st person shooter, and requires some thinking as to get through the storyline you will be asked to figure out how to get through the "puzzles" to keep the story going. Here are the drawbacks, the first is you CAN NOT DIE. As long as you can figure out how to keep the game going by figuring out the puzzles, which after a while by the way becomes easier as the types of puzzles repeat themselves, it is impossible, and I repeat impossible to DIE. No this is not God Mode, and no, though it may sound to some to be a benefit, it is nice sometimes to have an excuse to quit the game at your last save point. Not ... Prey has a lot to like and a some not to like. Though the story of Prey may not seem to appeal to all, a Native American Hero who with the help of his "spirit force" (excuse me if my terminology is off) fights to save his "girlfriend" from Alien abductors, if you like a game with a different spin you forgive the storyline to play a more unique 1st person shooter in the 1st person shooter genre. And the best part of all - you get to kill, kill, kill :) Final Verdict - Good but not Excellent

Prey is a sci-fi first person shooter that scores many high marks with its unique and innovative gameplay features that are presented in gorgeous living environments and game levels. These elements have made Prey into a fun and exciting game. With a closer look however, Prey falls prey to the fate of many first person shooters with linear game levels and an average storyline. Pros * Lots of new and innovative gameplay features. * Environments and game levels are extremely detailed and gorgeous! * Nice variety of unique alien weaponary Cons * Enemy AI is quite basic Often not challenging. * Linear level design limits replayability. * Lackluster storyline. Overall, the strong points in Prey outweigh it's drawbacks. The linear game path, unchallenging AI, and weak storyline hold Prey back ... Prey Doom 3 Brother
Prey is the new first-person shooter developed by Human Head Studios easily clears the bar set by American McGee's Alice. American McGee's Alice was a classic re make of Alice wonder land that take the a wrong turn when the really Alice leaves and return to find the evil queen in charge. To say the least, the story is unforgettable, but I find Prey story line a bit forgettable. The young Native American along with his grandfather and very hot girlfriend, Jen is abducted by aliens and teleport to a huge ship. Tommy manages get free and his first task is to find Jen. That task alone keeps him busy. Tommy talks a bit much in the game. Mostly cursing. The game gets interesting in the in, but until then it is mostly average. You star out with a wrench in the game and slow have weapon introduce to you during game. Follow by a few puzzle elements. I found the wall walking, change in gravity and spirit walking interesting. Some players may Wall walling is a bit disorient, for a while. But one of the best thing is wait for an enemy on a ceiling that you can walk on. I get a spider man type feeling before you rain death down on them. Or if you are feeling luck drop down on them. Their are a few different way to complete a level, mostly depend on the floor tour standing on. So practice wall walking. Tying in Tommy's Cherokee heritage to the game give him the unique ability to spirit walk. At any time Tommy and leave is body and explore and walk through sheild and round the ship. In spirit form their is a few puzzle to figure out to deaviate force field, but the puzzles are not that tough. Always remember to place your physical some where safe when you spirit walk. The most disturbing thing for me is frustratingly inaccurate weapons even when you standing still. Reminding me of Days of defeat/ Half life. Portal hopping is nice but always be on the look out for an ambush and be careful when firing in to a portal or you may end up hitting yourself as you travel through them. Prey has the creep Doom 3 feeling. A lot of the game reminds you of Doom 3. One of the good thing is quick save. If you have just the ability to save the game at the a check point of at the end of mission would make this game very frustrating. Each time you reload the game you have to play a mini game AKA Death Walk. Death walks also takes place when Tommy die Tommy has about ten or more seconds to shoot spirits that circle him, replenishing his health and spirit. Then he will be brought back to life on the spot of your death. Walk I don't like about the death walk is you can't really be killed in the game. Your unstoppable because you can't die. Unlike in your game were you constant reload and have to fight your way out of a live hell or Constant cheap or sneak attacks by the enemy which usually adds to frustration and kills the game play. Death walk make part of the game to easy but less frustrating. The graphics are nice but remind me a lot of Doom 3. just not as dark But a lot of the creatures seem to been taken from doom. The requirement on Prey are a bit high. Multiplayer is still the same at the other shooter. The Wall walking make it interest but it will fade in interest in a short amount of time. Perhaps interest Mods will same it. Prey is enjoyable as a one time hot and heavy then move on. The story isn't much to speak of, but I really like the hot girlfriend Jen. Gravity trick keep game play interesting and puzzles don't get in the way.

Prey hits the spot
This game brings us back to to what an FPS should be on steroids. Many PC gamers have played or at least heard of games like Duke Nukem, Doom, Quake, etc; well Prey is a whole new dimension in the genre, where the player is inmerse in a wierd alien spaceship with awesome futuristic weapons and the whole environment to play with, add to that a lil bit of horror and this game just hits the spot. The only faulty thing with the game is its compatibility with new OS's and new screen resulutions, where the game can only be fitted in a square screen instead of the new widescreen panels. In conclusion if you're a fan of FPS and love survival horror Prey is the game for you.This game brings us back to to what an FPS should be on steroids. Prey is good but let's not get carried away...
I would give this game a 3.5 out of 5, but I guess that rounds up to 4. Prey is a good game, but it doesn't offer much that you haven't seen already. If you enjoy slightly intelligent shooters with not a lot of fluff, then Prey is exactly what you want. However, there is an extreme lack of enemy diversity and parts of the game near the end real seem to drag on and on. The puzzles won't bend your mind, but they shouldn't have to, this is an FPS after all. Bright Spots: Portal system is awesome and messes with your mind, opening intro level is extremely cool, atmosphere is very creepy (very subtle things like the Art Shell radio program suck you right in), decent amount of "that was AWESOME" fights.
