Rebecca St. James: Pray (1998)
This is by far Rebecca's best album she's ever done. I say that because not only do I enjoy listening to this album, but it won a Grammy award and it recently went gold in 2006. My favorite songs on "Pray" are "Peace", "Give Myself Away", "Lord You're Beautiful", "Pray", "Omega", "Be Thou My Vision", and "Hold Me Jesus". The other songs are great too of course. This CD was put together brilliantly. It starts off with "Pray", which was a hit single. It's a rock/pop type of upbeat song. The second track is "OK" which is okay. Not my favorite but not my least favorite. The next song is "Give Myself Away." I really love this song. The lyrics are meaningful for any Christian that can relate to this song about following the narrow road and not looking back. The song also fits in perfectly at ... This version by Rebecca in my opinion is the best! She makes the song her own. "I'll Carry You" is the next song which Rebecca wrote about a race she watched where the girl got tired and so one of the guys she was with carried her and it reminded Rebecca of how we were never meant to make it on our own and we need the help of others for encouragement and guidence. Track 6 is "Come Quickly Lord" which was written by Rebecca and her brother Ben Smallbone I do believe. The next song is "Peace" and I first heard this song on the radio many times and the radio version is different from the CD version. However, I like the CD version better. The other version cuts most of the middle and end out. This song is awesome and fun to sing along. "Mirror" is another single from this CD. It's about how we want to mirror Jesus and how perfect He is. The next song may be over 6 minutes, but it's another amazing song that Rebecca makes her own. It feels shorter than 6 minutes. "Lord You're Beautiful" is a song you just want to repeat over and over again. When it starts, it sounds just like the beginning of "Pray" but it's a slow song and it doesn't go upbeat and rockish like "Pray". "Love To Love You" is another catchy song that ends with her little sister Libby singing what is the opening for the next song "Omega". I love how the song has like a chior of people singing with. In "Omega", Rebecca talks the verses and sings each chorus. When the song ends, you'll notice that the CD is still playing and there's about 4 or 5 minutes left on the CD. Fast for about a minute and the hidden track "Be Thou My Vision" will play. This is another great song and the way is ends reminds me of how a concert should end with loud instruments and the echo of her voice. I didn't go to her concert in 1998 since I didn't know her yet back then, so I don't know if she really ended her show with this song. It's just the perfect ending! This is a wonderful CD and I strongly suggest that you add this to your collection. If you don't have any RSJ CDs, then make this be the first one you buy. Rebecca said that her fans always bring up this CD when they talk to her backstage. Buy it and you'll know why is went gold and won a Grammy!!!

I used to own another copy of this cd years ago and I wanted to replace it! This one was everything that I remembered it to be.

Great product and excellent deal!
I first heard one of her songs on the radio and had to have this CD. I just love it! i ALWAYS FIND MORE THAN JUST THE ONE SONG I LIKE. Lovely voice!

Great CD, no matter the age, it is awesome to listen to and for self examination regarding how close we are to GOD and how we see HIM.
