With 2009’s THE PINK PANTHER 2, Steve Martin once again dons the mantle of the giddily absurd Inspector Clouseau. This time, the bumbling French lawman, relieved of meter-maid duty, attempts to track down a bold thief known as the Tornado, who makes off with many of the world’s cultural treasures, including the Magna Carta, the Shroud of Turin, and, of course, the Pink Panther Diamond. Aiding Clouseau is a team of international investigators, most notably a Brit (Alfred Molina) and an Italian (Andy Garcia), all of whom get to marvel at his unfiltered silliness. While this second installment of the PINK PANTHER series reboot features some changes to the creative team, with director Harald Zwart (AGENT CODY BANKS) replacing Shawn Levy and John Cleese stepping in for Kevin Kline as the sourpuss Chief Inspector Dreyfus, the movie reunites Martin with the always-likeable actors Jean Reno and Emily Mortimer. Also joining the ensemble cast are Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jeremy Irons, and Martin’s old comrade Lily Tomlin, making this sequel quite crowded with top-notch talent. Though the film itself doesn’t live up to its potential--the Clouseau role is still securely owned by the late, great Peter Sellers--it offers up plenty of chuckle-inducing moments as Martin hams it up with grand mispronunciations and gleeful slapstick.

Andy García, Yuki Matsuzaki and Alfred Molina round out the cast as detectives, Inspector Vicenzo Brancaleone, Inspector Kenji Mazuto and Chief Inspector Randall Pepperidge. It was released on Blu-ray and DVD on June 23, 2009.

Pink panther is back with some laughs ...
Big improvement over the pink panther 1 . Worth watching it . this movie is a sequel of Peter Sellers Pink Panthers movies ( released in 1963 thru 1978) . Do not try to compare Martin with Peter Sellers and then watch the movie. Steve Martin was great, and he was supported by a wonderful cast. It is not the best comedy movie , it will not blow u away but it has some funny moments like the black commandos coming in and asking for password , reopening of the restaurant scene. Steve Martin (Cheaper by the Dozen, Sgt. Bilko and many more) is back in action as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau. In this second installment in the Steve Martin versions, the Tornado is stealing precious works of art from around the world and a 'Dream Team' is being assembled to track down the Tornado and to keep him from stealing the Pink Panther Diamond. Some of the other actors in the film include: Andy Garcia, Emily Mortimer, Jean Reno, Jeremy Irons, John Cleese, and Lily Tomlin. The movie is filled by the less than coordinated inspectors antics and at times is quite funny. Steve Martin has always been a 'wild and crazy guy' and I recommend this movie to anyone who wants a good laugh and entertainment. Pink Panther 2 --Superb Comedy!
I never thought anyone could replace Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau, but when I saw Steve Martin's version of him, I loved his fresh interpretation of the bumbling Inspector. In Pink Panther 2, Steve Martin's antics, expressions, accents, and demeanor were even more hilarious, and I found myself laughing (not chuckling, as I usually do with comedies). If you enjoyed the first Pink Panther, you'll love Pink Panther 2. I highly recommend it. Also, this blu ray set includes a bonus disc of Pink Panther cartoons.
