4805 DLP still holding its own.
I have owned one of these since what 2005 or 06 and the quality for the money couldn't be beat. The fan went out.... so I was looking for a replacement and found one because it fit my indoor theatre. When I have people over they are amazed at the size and color of the picture that bounces off a light grey wall. I could use some fancy screen material that I own, but if you placed the images off the material vs the wall you can see a quality difference, but if you don't play that game, no one sees anything but a great picture and are amazed as the wall turns into an adventure each and every time. I am not desirous of upgrading. Why if you don't have to, and the size of the picture makes up for anything else. I am not as excited about the companies repair policies.... so find a ... Turning our home into a Movie Theater
The InFocus ScreenPlay DLP Projector we purchased has been a wonderful addition to our family entertainment. Using an empty wall and a white sheet, until we get a screen, we can view a dvd or anything on cable TV as if we had a very large TV. The setup was simple, the directions for use very clear and the projection quality is excellent. My husband, whom this item was purchased for, is delighted with this product, which was a real bargain at $385.00. Similar products can cost up to $2,000.00, so this is an economical way to watch our favorite movies and TV programs on a big screen. I have had two 4805 projector's . They really are not made for constant use , on average you can get 3,ooo hours of screen time before replaceing one. The problem is that they need Maintenance which most people don't do. The lamp should be blown out every 90 days and the color wheel needs some lube. That being said , it is one of the best camera's for the money around. The lamp is very costly ( around 335.00 ) per but you get 8 hrs for 250 stright days or 500 days of 4 hrs a day. not like a t.v. but the picture is 90 inches across and very enjoyable. My next projector will be an L.E.D. lamp (20,000 hours) . When this one goes bad............. c:)I have had two 4805 projector's . I LOVE my 4805! I've wanted one for four years and finally was able to get one. I originally started to bid on one that was up for $150 and the bidding ended at $325. I did not win but I had noticed this one posted for a "Buy Now" at $350. I've been watching the price for at least 3 years and $350 was a bargain since they normally go for $450-$500 even for a used or refurbished model. Since I've had it, the day I got it, I plugged it in and watch it every night. It's awesome and a real bargain compared to buying a big screen HD LCD flat screen that is less than a quarter the size what I get on my living room wall. I could have paid thousands of dollars for a new TV and not had half as much screen or fun. I currently watch movies on my wall in 16'x 9', yes, 16 feet by 9 feet. I watch ... I LOVE my 4805! Even when I have to replace the bulb (I got it with less than 500hrs of use on a 4000hr bulb), I won't mind because it will still give me more screen for my money than a regular television. The picture is crisp and beautiful. I watched "Out of Africa" and "Sky Captain in The World of Tomorrow" last night and they both were amazing. Tonight, "Star Wars Empire Strikes Back." It's an amazing home theater starter.

This projector has a better picture than ones costing 3-4 times as much. Because it is native widescreen and has Faroudja processing chips it can reproduce DVDs far better than projectors designed to handle primarily business presentations. If you are looking to buy your first projector and not spend a lot of money then buy this one! If you are looking for a cheap way to make your xbox or PS3 go really BIG screen then buy this projector!This projector has a better picture than ones costing 3-4 times as much.
