In good taste Again
The story is good, believable. Tom Selleck again works the part of Law officer with that "second" sense developed by many years of experience and cop smarts. The supporting characters (and actors chosen for the roles) are right on. You really need to see (and/or read) the entire Jesse Stone series in order. It takes you to the town of Paradise, a place so typical of the "old money" that controls a sleepy community next to the sea and close to Bah-stun. Characters cross over to and from other Parker novels (such as SPENCER) that builds the reader's feeling of being there. Great read. Low profanity. Some sex but no explicit or vulgarity in place of artfully done reality line. Mr. Parker's talent, wit, and tricky writings will be missed by this reader.The story is good, believable. Jessie Stone done well, the story not up to Robert Parker's standard
As a fan of Robert Parker's books, I am predisposed to like these movies. This one was a bit of a stretch. It is not based on any of Parker's 'Jessie Stone' books, which is a bit odd since there are still a few of them which have not been made into movies (that I know of). The characters are still accurate to Parker's vision, but the circumstances are 'darker'. Jessie spends all of the movie 'suspended'. Also, they talk about there being only 2 members left in the Paradise Police Department, which is absurd. It is a factor in the story, but is so totally unrealistic that it detracts from the storyline rather than adds to it. The only town which could survive with a police department of only 2 members would have a population of 50 or maybe 100, and not be easily accessible from a ... Tom Selleck has Jessie Stone 'down pat'. In fact, in one of the earlier books, there is a line from someone talking about Jessie, "it's not like he was Tom Sellick", so it is not out of the realm of possibility that Parker was thinking of Tom when developing Jessie. And note that Tom was the primary (first listed) author of this screenplay. He 'gets' Jessie at this particular moment in time. There is not much of the 'growth' in Jessie which occur in Parker's books. After spending all movie suspended, and with the rumor that 'the entire force' (all 2 of them) would be fired along with Jessie, the movie ends with the start of the city council session which supposedly will determine this. A cliff hanger in a movie, that is annoying as all get out. The standard dog is here, as aloof as always, despite some tentative attempts on Jessie's part to enter into a more normal man/dog relationship. Yet the dog does frisk on occasion, which is nice to see. As an example of this genre of movie, this one is not bad at all, particularly if you have good suspension of disbelief. As an example of Robert Parker's work, it is only so-so. As an example of Tom Selleck's work, it is great. And as an example of a made-for-TV movie, it is better than most.

THE MOVIE "NO REMORSE" IS THE SIXTH MOVIE TOMSELLECK HAS PLAYED THE CHARACTER JESSE STONE. MANY SEQUELS SEEM TO LET YOU DOWN FROM THE FIRST MOVIES, "BUT NOT THIS ONE". I FOUND THIS AND ALL OF THE JESSE STONE MOVIES TO EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING. I OWN ALL SIX MOVIES BECAUSE I ENJOY THE SUBJECT MATTER, THE JESSE STONE CHARACTER AND I BELIEVE TOM SELLECK TO BE ONE OF THE GREAT ACTORS OF TODAY AND YESTERDAY. HE IS OUR MODERN DAY JOHN WAYNE. I TRULY HOPE THEY KEEP THIS JESSE STONE CHARACTER ALIVE IN NEW RELEASES. MY JESSE STONE MOVIES HAVE BEEN BORROWED BY FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND ALL HAVE SAID THEY REALLY ENJOYED THEM. No remorse is another great Jesse Stone movie!
This is my second purchase of this movie. I bought the whole set of eight. No Remorse disappeared in my home so I bought another copy. That tells you how much I liked the movie. Why? Tom Selleck is a perfect Jesse Stone. He plays Stone just as the very popular books depict him. The rest of the actors are proficient at the least and many are excellent. Some of favorites are the actors who play Suitcase, Dix and Gino Fish. The writing and the director are excellent. The cinematography and music score add to the experience. The only drawback to Jesse Stone movies are that there are only eight.This is my second purchase of this movie. I bought the whole set of eight. Without a job Jesse doesn't stop.
Jesse has been suspended as the Chief, but Captin Hurley puts him to work on a special assignment. Great action, and drama. As always Tom Selleck adds his wisdom to help guide the folks of the small town. But big city Boston is another story. Great movie, you won't go wrong with it. I just hope that now that he has a series he doesn't stop making these movies.
