With 2008's KUNG FU PANDA, the talking-animal CGI film enters a new era, one that makes room for both painterly artwork and fierce martial-arts action. Po (voiced by Jack Black), a clumsy and ever-hungry panda, is a huge kung fu fan, but seems destined to sell noodles like his father, Mr. Ping (James Hong), who inexplicably happens to be a goose. When Po literally crashes a ceremony involving martial-arts masters Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) and Oogway (Randall Duk Kim) and their pupils, the Furious Five--which includes Tigress (Angelina Jolie, in a surprisingly small part) and Crane (David Cross)--he ends up being selected by the latter elder as the revered Dragon Warrior. As the skeptical Shifu reluctantly trains the hapless Po, his former star pupil, Tai Lung (Ian McShane), escapes from a high-security prison, setting up a collision course between the bumbling bear and the powerful villain. One of the finest animated films released under the Dreamworks banner, KUNG FU PANDA deftly avoids many of the pitfalls of the genre (i.e. cheesy musical sequences), juggling action, heart, and humor in a highly entertaining way. While Black (in endearingly restrained mode), Hoffman, Kim, and McShane voice their characters with verve, the real stars of PANDA are directors Mark Osborne and John Stevenson and their animators, who lovingly depict ornate Chinese chambers and vast mountainous vistas, as well as blazing kung fu battles. A movie with remarkably wide appeal, KUNG FU PANDA delivers on its quirky, high-concept title with gleeful aplomb.

My toddler loves this movie
Good quality DVD! Awesome cartoon movie for kids! My toddler has watched Kung Fu Panda over 100s of times but we ordered a DVD of it since we were going on a family camping trip and there is no cellphone signal or wifi where we camped. However, we did bring a portable dvd player for the kid to watch just right before bed time.

Martial Arts Legend at it's best... forget Bruce Lee, "Panda Style" is "in"
A tale of the mysticism, legends, and philosophies of Martial Arts in a delightful cartoon that a kid of any age can relate to... Ideals, personal challenges, self-esteem, and inter-relationships are subtly woven into a fable of epic proportions. Dedication, determination.. teamwork, combined into a edge of the seat story that grips the viewer and let's them forget..it's a cartoon!

This is a fantastic story of overcoming great obstacles that anyone can learn a lesson from. Po, an overweight Panda, works every day in his family's noodle shop. His Father, Mr. Ping (voice of James Hong) eventually wants Po to take over the noodle shop, but Po has larger dreams. Little does he know that somehow fate will somehow befall him. Po is soon chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy. Po joins the world of Kung Fu and begins to train with the Legendary - Furious Five - Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper, and Monkey. Shifu is the Kung Fu Master and wise trainer. Many events try and keep Po from becoming a true Dragon Warrior. The tortoise Master Oogway (Randall Duk Kim) has a premonition that the evil snow leopard warrior Tai Lung (Ian McShane), the former student of his own protégé, ... Stricken with despair at the scroll's apparent worthlessness, Shifu orders his students to lead the villagers to safety while he stays to delay Tai Lung for as long as he can. Po meets up with his father, who tells him the secret ingredient of the family's noodle soup: NOTHING! Things become special, because people believe them to be special. Jack Black as a Panda.....Who Knew?
Love it! The story was great and the background was beautiful, it really felt like an ancient Chinese city. This original story is one of the best since Shrek. And the meaning behind the story may be even better! The story is about Po, an overweight panda who is the son of a noodle maker, who dreams of Po following in his footsteps. But Po longs to be a ninja fighter. Po is as you know is a panda bear and the film's unlikely hero: as the bigger than life and completely lovable bear voiced by the comic genius Jack Black. Po is a Sweet but clumsy, bear who hears the news the ancient and long awaited dragon warrior will be named, so he runs (as much as he can) to hear who will be named at the celebration. Without giving too much away, when an "accident" seems to name Po as the dragon warrior ... Love it! The story was great and the background was beautiful, it really felt like an ancient Chinese city. Shifu must find a way to train him. One hilarious moment after another continues until Shifu recognizes Po's true driving force. This is just in time as the villain Tai Lung (Ian McShane), a snow leopard has returned as he believe is the true Dragon Warrior. I can not recommend this movie enough. Certainly this is marketed for the kids – but the whole family will enjoy it

We love it!
We love Kung Fu Panda! I think my kids and I have watched it 100 times already. We have it in our car, so I usually only get to hear the movie, which with other movies gets boring after a few times, but Kung Fu Panda just doesn't. The dialog and sound effects are so clever and entertaining in themselves that I don't mind hearing it over and over. But when I do get to actually see the movie, it is even more clever, like when Po is locked out of the Jade palace and no one hears him banging on the doors, because he is matching the beat of the drums. Little things like that are funny. My favorite part of the whole movie is when Po embraces who he is and tells Tai-lung that he is not "a big fat panda, I'm THEE big fat panda!" Casting did such a great job. Of course, we all love Jack ... We love Kung Fu Panda! I think my kids and I have watched it 100 times already.
